Been testing driving GT Cabrios. Tell me about your experience.

Good, Bad, etc.

I was hooked on a new 911 for a while but after hearing a GT a few months back, I kinda got an itch to start checking into them. A few things I've heard about them and my thoughts after test driving several:

Interior is dated - As long as it has bluetooth audio streaming and pickup/hangup call function and they respond well, and the sound system is good, I don't care. The interior looks like the E Class (number pad, etc), which wasn't updated till this year itself. No one really complained about that.

It's slow compared to the competition - If I were to get a 991 it would be an NA Carrera S Cabriolet, slightly heavier than a base with a lower HP/Torque rating. Only benefit the 991 will have is weight. I realize the GT is a GT car first, sport car second (911 is reversed). So "slow" doesn't bother me much.

Reliability - Here's where I can't really rationalize based on "common knowledge". I know the pre 2010ish are a mine field, but I've met my fair share of folks who have had no issues with GT. Thoughts?

Can you share with me your yearly maintenance? Was your insurance jacked up pretty high as well?

I've found two options, both 2010, one with 47k miles for 45k, one with 25k miles for 55k. Wonder if I can talk both down a bit, especially if I see both on the lot for quite some time. What am I in store for for scheduled A/B major maintenance? Is Maserati at 20/40/60K miles?

TY in Advance

I would say, the only thing I didn't like about the GT Cabs I've driven was the accelerator placement. Very high compared to the brakes!

USA Based BTW!

Mine not a cab but the GTS Sport so interior it slight more up to date but not by much!

Happy to share a review i posted on autotrader (UK sales site), only had mine a few weeks so reliability is difficult one hoping for trouble free, but in case i have a 15 month warranty.

Here is my review:

Well this is my first Granturismo, been waiting nearly 5 years to get one and opted for the Sport with the updated nose and newer interior. All i can say is this is motoring nirvana, i've driven lots of performance cars and they all come with some serious let downs but this things sounds wonderful, looks beautiful and drives superbly. The fuel consumption is what you would expect on a V8 so i dropped no points for that, services are 2 years or 12,000 miles and cost between £800-£1500. I was lucky enough to have a 15 month warranty with mine. Soon as you slip into the seats immediately you feel a sense of occasion, my other car is a BMW 335d and i thought that was special but this is something else. The drive is very comfortable in Auto cruising on a motorway its just so easy and joyful, round town with it in Sport Manual the noise kicks in early so you don't have to break speed limits to enjoy and the attention it receives makes you feel that bit more special. What is nice is the attention is positive, i think the presents of this car just calms people into appreciation rather than jealousy. The interior cabin is plush and very high quality the boot is a little small but fairly practical. Yes the infotainment is dated but the sat nav works, phone prep is good, cruise and auto wipers work well. To be fair i've not turned the stereo on yet in the 500 miles covered so far just don't feel i need it. Basically everything you could need to support your drive is there but not distracting. The gear changes are fairly quick and the seat is supremely comfortable more than i expected. Dials are clear and visibility is adequate. As mentioned this thing is big (5m long, 2m wide) so you do have to pick your parking spots, but the front and rear sensors help. There is no push start button, but i feel its more eventful to turn the key and listen to that V8 fire up, you feel more engaged with the process. All in this is the best car i've owned and i don't know what could replace it!
