It's time I'm afraid.

I'm going to look at a DB9 Volante MANUAL tomorrow, an incredibly rare car and possibly not an opportunity I can pass up.

One last holiday to Emblem to have the gearshift linkage fitted, a wheel refurb and it'll be ready to go. Someone will get an amazing 4200GT in a wonderful colour combo for very little cash and both myself and Sarah will be sad to see her go. But it's been locked away in Sussex for 6 months or so, haven't even driven or looked at it - what's the point in keeping it!!

I'm sure I will be back in a Maser, but living in London means some cars have to be culled, the DB7 and 4200 are to become one car for space and running costs.

I'll be very sad to say goodbye, but hopefully Emblem will keep it down there while on sale so I am not tempted to withdraw from it!

I'll still stay on here though! Happy New Year peeps, and I still want my place at Le Mans please Loz!

Enzo!!

I will stil be attempting to lurk with you Maser folk, we were allowed to gatecrash with the DB7 so hopefully that carries through with something else. Looking forward to a Le Touquet trip soon!

Best to Linda!

Lewis.....a great shame for our marque and forum, hadn't seen you on for a while.

Hope, what ever model you get you'll show her off on here first and maybe see it in flesh some time.

Keep well and regards to Tristan

DB9 Volante with a manual, that is very rare, never knew you could have a manual on a DB9. Hope all goes well for you Lewis.

Indeed, only 2 manual Volantes exist on the Aston Martin register, they are a rare beast.

The plan was always to amalgamate the two big GTs into one bigger, manual transmissioned ragtop uber-GT thing due to running costs and the fact that I live in a top floor flat in London - space is at a premium! Thought about a F430 Spyder, a Gallardo Spyder, and the Vantage 4.7 Volante. All are manuals and if I could only have one big GT it had to be a manual... DB9 has long been my favourite car but with the (albeit excellent) TouchTronic box it didn't quite fit the bill. Suddenly an Aston racing green manual Volante has popped up nearby and I hope to see it tomorrow. Sarah knew from the second I saw it it was sold (subject to it not being a dog of a car and still available), so she rolled her eyes and even offered up the shared 911 for sacrifice, but hopefully it won't come to that!

But my beloved, rocket-ship fast, ultra-reliable, Italian icon of a Coupe GT has to go. I have done 18k miles in it, toured through France, Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland in it, and last year blasted around Le Mans with the gang; the drive to and from the track is the best driving experience I have ever had. It has NEVER let me down and has never failed to be the star attraction of wherever it is parked. I will miss it horribly, but it has been so long since I have used it, it's like having a watch in a safe that you never wear. No point, and the old cliche that someone else could be enjoying it holds true.

It'll go to Emblem to be fettled and then sold from there. If I can, I'd like one last run out in it with you chaps so I'll keep my eyes peeled in events.

I won't be leaving the forum either, have made some real friends on here and will hopefully be taking my place with the mob at Le Mans. I will just be doing that daily drive with a few more cylinders and a bit more chassis flex...

Hi Lewis,

I am not sure on this matter/post as to be either spitting feathers, laughing my head off or just green with envy!

Please tell me that this was a painful decision to make!!

All the best with the new motor and please pop along to the Ace Cafe to show us the new set of wheels,

Cheers

Paul and Pauline

It definitely was Paul! Will be very sorry to see it go but as I said I'll still be gatecrashing the events!

Maybe a GranCabrio is in the stars for later, but the last thing I need is £60k of depreciation over the next few years... When they've levelled out, it'll be interesting to drive one and see if it's a s good as the Aston. People seem to think so...

The Aston is indeed a great car and you will no doubt get a lot of pleasure from it. Equally someone else will also benefit from buying your Mas and will drive it and cherish the way it was meant. You've made a good call passing it on to another lucky owner.

Deposit left and waiting on a dry day for test drive. So Maser for sale, MAF260 has first refusal and DB7 Vantage Volante for sale... anyone? Itsa verra niiice...

/and it's bloody quick too!

Was just thinking I should post a picture, but there they are in my Avatar :)

What a handsome pair, a green DB9 and white 911 won't look quite as classy together :(
