I wonder what kind of TV detective would drive one of those? A bit of a Maverick? Plays by the rules and always goes by the service intervals?

I propose 'Crompton', a Bolton-based detective who appreciates life's exotica, as he has been to Manchester and regularly holidays in Lytham St Annes. He has a Pied-de-Terre ironically over a pie shop with a heated garage next to the pastie ovens.

He prefers the Sebring as it is a better car than a Ford Angular favoured by rival detectives 'Eckersley' and 'Bickerstaffe'.

Checks his oil level, tyre pressures and only uses Hampson and Greenhalgh's best whippet-skinned backless driving gloves and Poundland flat cap.

He carries a Heschler and Kock automatic pistol and Blohm and Voss Panzerfaust and was responsible for wiping out an entire gang of black pudding salesmen who'd escaped from Prestolee Prison.

He's mean, clean, and has no points on his licence....

He's also a black belt in Ecky-Thump. His hands are considered as dangerous weapons.
