I really miss my old Alpina convertible and its ability to do everything. Thinking of selling one of the race cars and getting a normal car me and the Ms can go on holiday in and pottle around at the weekend.

There is loads of info about GTs so my inquiry is about the differences; I know they have the ZF box but what about hood, boot, drive, etc??

It doesn't have a boot mate, buy another Alpina... B4/D4 Cab

Granted Alpina's aren't normal cars like Maserati's

Boot is pretty terrible but just put stuff on the back seats as they are gorgeous cars. Not that quick and better at wafting which is not a bad thing. I would stretch to the Sport version as it was the car the original should been..Everything on that one was improved.

I cant stretch to a Sport. It be a pre facelift.
Boot and the general size of a GT/GC are the two things that put me off. You could get a bicycle in the boot of my e46.

Another Alpina is on the list. Although I really didn’t like the e93 M3 I had.

I had a E90 318d company car and a brief encounter with a 335i and I think the E90 series was the worst generation of BMWs

Flip side I love the F10 5 and F30 3 series definitely a golden era for BMW.

That is a massive issue with the cab. They did do a Sport in the non facelift. It was bought out just before the coupe facelift but you do need a good 7 to 10k more than the standard car.

I do like the turbo M4, apart from the ride which I think is hideous! Can’t stretch to an F82 Alpina though.

M4 is a great car. What about the AMG C63 convertible. They are a great car also but they seemed to hold their price better than the M4 so not as cheap to buy.

I briefly had the MC version (the range topper) which was quite fun as a summer toy. But the boot is small, and the car itself large. I changed it for the Strad as got bored of the auto box.

Just as an aside, there's a 2003 Maserati Spider being auctioned at Brightwells this evening, and will probably be available at around the £10k mark (just in case anyone is looking for a relatively inexpensive way into convertible Maserati ownership).

Strad isn’t for me. Even if I could afford one. I really do want an auto.

I was tempted too as I’ve been driving 6 series convertibles for years and fancied something different, but at the time the small boot kept me from pulling the trigger. It is absolutely gorgeous though, I love the Granito with red top combo, it really suits the car.

What do you think of your 6 series?

How have you found the 6 series. I’ve been looking at 640i and 640d to replace my Mercedes diesel for the daily slug to work. They seem great value at the moment over here.
