S to Sport differences...

I've got the new seats... definitely offer more support on cornering... but not quite as comfy on a 5 hour motorway jaunt...little in it....

Sliding around on the seats I can recall being an issue in my old 4200.... .. but then I used to regularly cane that...

I got the old seats.

Ta couldn't tell from the snap. To be fair I think both styles are bettered elsewhere, prefer the seats in my wife's TT.

At least they are not too narrow like a lot of sporty cars, E92 M3 for example.

I think it just depends on how wide you are. I am extremely narrow so the width of the seat allows me to slide around too much.so I prefer the narrower seat.

Drove a Sport (15 plate) today and the seats felt much better. Though I didn't drive the S nor sit in them as long, so not a fair comparison really. They were full leather in the Sport - think I'd prefer alcantara inserts.

Car was an auto but as auto boxes go it's pretty good in manual mode (had the sport button pressed). Blips on downshift were good.

Couldn't go too hard in it but the handling felt composed - standard suspension. Car didn't feel too big.

Design of the front made placing it in corners easy - better than the Aston in this respect.

Still need to try an MC Shift, but an Auto might be an option (which opens up choice a little).

On aesthetics - the car *needs* alcantara headlining. The nylon one is too "Audi". And white cars are really growing on me when equipped with carbon aero bits. Which is a problem as I cannot see me convincing the Mrs on that colour combo!

I found my E92 M3 seats a lot better then my GTS (with alcantara) ones. They ain't terrible by a long shot but too flat and wide at the back and hardly any side bolster. Plus the bolsters on my M3 were adjustable. And I'm 6"2" and *cough* 16 stone

MC Shift tried. Has to be one of these for me. The auto is good, but the MC Shift just felt a shed load more interactive and responsive. And had the edge on sound too.

This was also a Sport car, but seemed like a decent price. Only problem being the colour...could possibly have it wrapped as black really is a no go for me and MrsM noted recently how much she likes matt grey cars - a shocking revelation but one that's opened up an interesting colour option :)

I prefer the part alcantara seats having now tried both...

And the headlining on this one was also nylon but didn't look as sub-par as the last car I tried.

Just a case of finding the right car now and getting a sensible deal done with the Aston in p/x...

You won't regret going for the MC-S but wait for the right spec, there are plenty about. I have the alcantara inserts too which were a no cost option and I personally much prefer them to the full leather. The alcantara roof lining is a nice touch too and much better than the standard finish in my opinion.

Good luck

Thanks Stuart.

The car's a very good spec, colour's the main blocker. It looks like there are only something like 40-50 MC Shift Sports, so some degree of compromise is likely to be required I suspect, but we'll see (if anyone has relatively accurate figures on numbers, colours, specs made etc I'd be all ears).

Another question - do they all have Skyhook? I'm being told not (and that this car doesn't have it), but the specs thread on here seemed to suggest they do (maybe just on Autos?).

I don't think Skyhook is standard. Most seem to have it but on my spec sheet, it was ticked as an option and was charged accordingly

Skyhook is standard on 4.7 Auto but not on the MC. Many MC's do have it though and you can't tell from dashboard.

Thanks.

Ride and handling on the std springs seemed pretty good to me. We'll see what cars come up - am in no huge rush :)

As of Q2 2015, there are 42 MC Sports:
