Sorry, not been around much over the past 24/48 hrs due to a death.

My other passion apart from Maserati is Southampton Football Club.

For those of you that know anything about football will be aware of the history of the club and its fall from grace of late.

Anyway, just when we thought our club was on the up, after nearly going out of existence last year, Markus Liebherr stepped in making us the joint 4th richest club in England, and he has just gone and died on us at the age of 62.

We are all in shock down here.

Our thoughts go out to his family.

Sorry to hear that Matt.

Guys passions and the men they respect are very important in a mans life.

I hope the world hasn't completely stopped and all concerned can pick up the pieces.

Keep well.

Apparently it makes no difference to the club as the family are going to continue his passion and they are not short of a bob or two and the funds are still available and a death clause was written into his contract, but still, as shock.

He was known affectionately as the 'Honey Monster' down here.

LoL

never been big into the footy - tended to the "22 brainless farts kicking a bag of wind" school of thought.
Always enjoyed watching rugby more...

That said, as a schoolboy (many years ago) I did get to go to an FA Cup Final and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
(1973 Sunderland beat Leeds)
Cheers

Gordon

Didn't get the update fast enough....

My dad knew Peter Houseman and Peter (knowing dad was a Sunderland fan) turned up on the morning of the final with two tickets.

Ended up sat on the half way line with all other players and managers - amazing day

Saw southamptonat wembley when they won the Cup withy that late goal by stokes absolutly electrifying best feeling in the world at 13! never forget that day.
When i Utube it.... it still sends shivers up my spine!!
when we left the whole of southampton and the surounding areas where full of houses drapped in scarfs and home made flags.
I swear i could hear the entire population of southampton cheer even at wembley LOL
might even have the old programme in the garage still but dad died in 1984 (got shot) so its a bit of a mess and all in boxes somewhere.
one day i may look it out again.

Couldn't agree more.

I am appalled by the antics of some of the players.
Remember watching Rooney having a go at a ref and thinking you don't need to be a lip reader to know that every other word started with F.
I would have sent him off immediately - you do not see abuse of the ref or dissent like that at a rugby match

Rugby players just punch **** out of each other, gouge eyes out and cheat with fake blood capsules!
