Ride height / raising number plate

Hi all

I have a recently acquired GT Sport, and am finding that the bottom of the number plate grounds itself more often that I had anticipated (including when coming off my drive, unless I'm very careful with the angle). I think that the number plate is going to come off soon if it keeps doing it, but I think an additional 10 - 20 mm of clearance would solve it. Is it possible/easy a) to raise the front number plate or b) slightly raise ride height? Sorry if stupid questions, and obviously I'll live with it if I have to, as being low and (very) long is of course part of the car's appeal. I just wonder if there's an easy fix that will make urban driving a little less stressful.

Hello, I'm afraid it's a problem that we all have due to the length of the nose mainly. Many have lost their number plates and keep it in the footwell to show if anyone asks but it's not ideal. I'm afraid that in short, there is no easy answer but I would advise against looking to raise the ride height, it's something that we need to live with sadly. Other than that, I hope that you're enjoying the car

Actually it depends whether you have the metal number plate mount or not. If you do, you can remove that and mount directly to the two holes in the front bumper which raises the plate and offers a little bit of extra clearance. As Stuart says, it looks best with no plate though !!

Lost count how many times I scrapped mine.
The first thing I did was remove the plastic mount and have a smaller plate and that helped but now I run with no front plate and keep it in the boot along with some double sided tape.
It's not ideal and a pain in car parks or petrol stations where they have recognition cameras, oh and people are forever asking me where the front plate is ?

Thanks all for the replies.

Outrun - I will doublecheck this evening, but it seems to be glued to a vertical plate that holds it in front of the splitter. If I can remove it, so that it no longer hangs down beneath the bottom of the splitter that might be sufficient - though at least now it protects the actual car from scraping!
