Reverse / Automatic mirror adjustment

Just for info, I had an issue with reversing mirror positions and I was able to track it down to a small switch that's pressed when you select the reverse gear (this is in a manual 4200). Symptoms were the mirrors briefly folding down and repositioning, and no reversing lights or sensors.

I removed the gearstick boot (it pops out, held in with plastic clips, two at the top edge and two at the bottom) and secured the small switch that the shaft makes contact with, and it instantly fixed the issue. If the switch was to fail, its part number is 980001109 (labelled as item 6 on this diagram).

Thanks for this advice. Worked a treat. Incredibly flimsy design so I superglued the plug to the mount and then wrapped a zip tie around the gear lever to give a bit of extra contact. Worked a treat

Nice one, glad you got it sorted! I need to re-do mine I think, not quite as reliable as I thought it would be (switch was broken so I think it's finally snuffed it). Job for the winter period I think!
