Hi All, Need help and advice

I am in the process of removing the steering wheel from my car a 3200gt.

I have followed the manual instructions but just unable to pull/remove the wheel itself, any advice very welcomed!

Has anyone done this before?

Regards

Paul

Yeah i have removed a 4200 wheel , it will need a hard sharpish tug upwards , worth maybe applying a little wd 40 make sure the leather is well protected , it doesn't like wd40 , and worth tapping the the steering column with a drift first before you try to pull upwards , perseverence is the key

regards loz ,

Hi Loz,

Cheers for the info

A hard sharpish tug is what I thought it may need just wanted to be sure.... a bit stuburn at the moment, a little WD40 possibly too wouldn't go a miss.

I am on the final process of removing the whole dash to get to the heating unit behind the radio area........great fun!!!

Hi All, It worked

A little WD40 and a couple of gentle dinks helped the steering wheel come off,

Onwards, removing of complete dashboard and then closer examination of heater unit

Paul,

Is your heater leaking? There is a post on Maserati Life re that problem

Pete/Frank,

Many thanks for posting the links/info extremley useful, I will look further into the pdf that was posted too (great pictures etc)

I have taken all of my dashboard/steering wheel/air bag you name it out to get to the heater unit. Photo's taken and will post in time!

This weekend i will be taking out the heater core to establish the leak,

It has taken a little while to get this far but worth doing, if not just to save on garage costs but to get to the bottom of it finally

Frank, needs must.......

But as with anything to do with the cars we own if you do have to take things apart then "sharing is caring" is the expression then pass on the knowledge is what is all about!

And to be honest I was awaiting an excuse to dig deeper into the car to understand it more, I even found a Ferrari sticker on part of the indicator housing, now just got to find the lucky lotto ticket and I am there, happy days!

It would be harder if it was sunny and missing good driving time!

Still Paul...a lot of effort and commitment, plus doing it up and the pics....takes up quite a bit of time.

But, and its a fairly big but, if you can reduce the time and fear factor involved...you save all of us valuable time and quite a bit of dosh.

Thanks again!
