Recall - Tie rod bolts

Had a recall letter on Friday. The bolts for the tie rods on the rear suspension can come loose.

What surprised me was it said the job would take 3 hours (and depending on chassis, could take up to 10!).. Obviously some sort of modification.

I am wondering if this is the cause of my hollow sounding rattle.. probably not but lets hope so!

Sorry to hear but happy it may be an answer.
What model and year is yours?

Its a 2014 Ghibli D with the normal suspension. Apart from the sport suspension (which I understand has FSD dampers) and the skyhook I cant think of any other variant that would need a 10hr job?!
It is due in for service in the next 1500 miles or so (36k mile service) so will get it done then..

On other Maserati models the tie rods are only sold with the lower wishbone.
They may be replacing the wishbones, which would explain the 10 hour job.

For anyone with a 4200 of some sort, it's worth noting that Emblem get bolts manufactured themselves, which they will supply (and fit, as I've just had done).

Am I right in thinking the tie rods are another name for anti roll bar drop links?

Its campaign 303 for Ghibli and QP done a few down here along with mats and pedal.
Nothing alarming its just the procedure and its the cure time of the Loctite on the new bolts before you can drive the car.
Not found any loose which would damage the hub which would make it a long job to do.
Phil.

No they are a different item again.
The tie rods have a bearing at the outboard end that supports but allows movement of the rear end of the hub carrier ( I think ).
I have a set of tie rods to be fitted to my car sourced from Craig Waterman in the U.S. The project to do this is part of a larger suspension refresh with FD lowering springs already obtained.

At least there is a recall. Modern market forces at work. American buyers ?
Shame the wishbone issue was not a factor in USA.
