Hi all,

I got a problem with my 2001 3200GT and appreciate if any of you could help me out. If you recall, I posted the question about having the P0353 error code previously; while I tried to shift the coil packs to figure out whether it is the coil pack's problem or some others, the coil pack on Cylinder 3 blew together with the ECU. So, I ordered a second hand coil pack and have the ECU fixed.

Well... after the ECU fixed, the car ran well for a months or two. Then, the CEL came up again. I suggested to my mechanics to see whether it would be a good idea to change the connection between the ECU and the coil packs, i.e. the Engine Wire Harness, since the ECU was fixed and the coil pack has changed and the same error came up. However, my mechanics suggested me not to do that at the moment since he did not have any clue on how much efforts and parts to be removed for a change of the loom; and given the age of the car, he was afraid that the process could hurt some other parts and create a bigger problem. While the car ran fine even with the CEL on, I accepted the advice and he helped me to clear the code so that I can see whether the code would appear again.

After a short period of time, the code appears again and I found that, this time, the engine shook occasionally, which I assume that was due to one of the cylinder was not ignited properly... that could be the Cylinder 3. Even so, I successfully reach home.

After a few days for not moving the car since I was on business trip, I tried to start the engine again to see whether there is any shake... The shake was still there and after around 30 seconds, the engine stopped with the dashboard having the similar signal as the last time I blew my ECU and coil pack....

The car was towed to my mechanics and he told me the coil pack on cylinder 3 blew again.... For now, I haven't got back my car yet.

Well.... really want to do something to fix the car... my questions are:

1) Do my guess of the problem on the short circuit of the Engine Wire Harness reasonable? Would there be any other items could cause the similar problem?

2) If I have to change the Engine Wire Harness, is it a huge project? In fact, would really like to know which parts, other than the coil packs, the harness will be connecting... Are there any parts of the car need to remove in order to reach all the connectors the harness connecting to? Any additional parts should I buy (well... just in case, some of the parts will not be reusable once I pull it off).

Most likely, I would let the mechanics (may or may not be the original one) do the job, just want to get more information from you guys before working on it.

Appreciate for your help!

Best regards,
Michael.
