Quattroporte Clutch

Hi there,

I've been away for a while busy on other stuff, and am taking my 4200 for an ABS sensor swap next week. The mechanic has done some work on Maseratis before but asked a non-related question: does the engine need to come out to change the clutch on a QP? I would have thought it'd be the same as on the 4200, where you shift the gearbox backwards....but does anyone know?

Cheers,
Alan

Hi Alan, what year is the 4200? Need to be careful to match VIN no with new part, not just colour of wire coming off ABS/Hub assembly

Hi there,
It's a 2003 car. I did swap hubs and sensors before using second-hand parts, and it worked for a few years, just that this one has gone dead. It still has the right resistance but clearly isn't good...the guys at Autofficina checked the car for me. It is a risk that the replacement won't work, but since I have it already I think it's worth the time to swap it, just that I've had enough at my age of struggling with tight bolts and so on!
I also have to determine why the front tracking keeps changing...I've had it set twice in the last year and still the car seems to toe out and be undecided as to which direction it's going in. Very frustrating!
Cheers,
Alan

Ok, understand.....not overly keen on the 2nd hand parts route, but they are expensive units.
