QPV Windscreen washer

Hey-yup folks

Sorry to bother, but the passenger side windscreen washer on the QP has stopped working. It seems a nonsense to take such a minor job to get fixed, so wondered how easy it was to remove the jet so as to clean it. Is it possible to get it out without having to remove the whole panel that covers the wiper mechanism?

Thanks

Terry

When this happened to me (driver's-side) DL in Swindon said they tried to clean the jet, but ended up having to replace it. Supposedly you can only partly dismantle the panel to get at it. Apparently there is also some risk of cracking the windscreen when replacing the panel.

Swapped mine in 5 minutes! Bought 2 Alfa jets for less than £12.00. The old ones just flick out carefully with a small flat screwdriver, no need to remove any panel! I have a pipe clamp which is essential to hold the rubber tube to stop it from shrinking back into the body (then you'd have to remove all sorts of things to retrieve it) placed this onto the tube before I removed the jet, fitted new jet, removed pipe clamp & clicked the jet back on to place. It actually took longer to get the angle of the new jet right than fitting it!

Just be really careful not to let the rubber pipe go or you right in the s***e!

Well, I am in the s***e! Not because I let the rubber pipe go. In fact the nozzle popped out very easily, as you said. Unfortunately, when it did pop out there was no tube attached! Now, either it`s dropped off (which I don`t think is likely) or the nozzle was so blocked that operating the washers created back pressure to the extent that it forced it off! Looks like the black cover panel is going to have to come off. Oh well, I thought I had a bit of spare time this week - not any longer.

Cheers

Unfortunately I`ve got so much on at present that I didn`t have time to investigate further. I had to go into Manchester today (someone was insisting on buying me lunch - it`s a hard life!!) so I called into Autoshield. Fixed quickly and very, very reasonably.

Got to say that I have a big soft spot for Citroens. My very, very first car was a Traction Avant Big Six - actually right hand drive assembled in Slough. That`s another that I wish I still had! I still remember the first time I saw a DS - and was gobsmacked by the one-spoke steering wheel. Great cars!
Talking of firsts, my first job was as a graduate apprentice at Rolls Royce Motor Car Division. They were building the Silver Shadow at the time - with suspension built under licence from Citroen!

Ooh the big six the holy grail of Tractions! Yeah people don't realise that Citroen were the first foreign company to produce cars in the UK beating Nissan by decades! The DS is a car of beauty & Wes absolutely fantastic to drive, so many firsts also, no grill, frameless door windows, self levelling & turning lights, not to mention that suspension. Rolls Royce even poached staff, but couldn't perfect their own suspension system, so Citroen licenced it, stupidly with only a small plaque under th ebonite & didn't make any more of it! Being a Wedding Photography I used to love turning up in the DS & seeing the Silver Shadow Wedding Cars & reminding them that they'd goy my suspension! Really didn't like that did they!
