QPV is the “leather” dashboard and trim material actually real leather?

Just wondered if the incredibly thin ”leather“ material used on the dashboard and trim panels is actually real leather and if so is it ok to use leather cleaner / conditioner feed type stuff on it ? - what do you guys use to clean it?

Whether or not it is leather (probably not) I would have thought any leather cleaner is benign enough to use. I use leather cleaner on all material in my QP.

Thanks. I’ve been gradually going round and resticking the edges on some of the trim where it has come away and lifted … Maserati certainly we’re not generous with the quality of this stuff, it really is so very thin and they cut it with very little overlap.

Vinyl bonded onto a thin foam. My rear shelf peeled so badly I had to replace it. An ex AML factory trimmer could do nothing with it. There is no leather in any of the trim pieces.

Ok thanks - I won’t bother feeding it using leather conditioner then!

It really is not very good quality for such a premium car, can’t believe how thin it is !

The centre console/rear dash/door cards are all vinyl without the cloth backing so very delicate. I imagine the dash is the same but not examined it that close to be fair so it may be leather. The same trimmer has had to do many Ferrari dashes that were real leather and had shrunk. They leave plenty of spare where Maserati cut to the edge and do not put a return on them.

Like many car there is little leather on any Maserati post 2001.

On the 4200/GS the only real leather is that which you 'touch' constantly; steering wheel, door pull, seat front face only and the T section of the dash face where the vents are... the rest is SM PVC.

Suspect the GT is even worse for fake items.

Didn't someone have a lot of their QPV re-trimmed in real leather? Chap with a nice Blu/Avorio one???
