QP Window Rubber Trims

Hi All

Been to see a QP GTS and I can’t for the life of me remember if my old car had the same issue or if there is some sort of corrosion issue going on here.
So the rear door window rubber trims look to have something poking or trying to poke through, either the trims have been fitted wrong or is there something more sinister hiding behind them?
I have marked on the attached image the areas but please note this is just a pic of AT not the car I was viewing.

Mine is exactly the same and always has been. I mean always - since new. Same window, same places. No idea what it is so will be interested to hear what the knowledgable people on here say.

it hasn’t gotten worse though.

Well there you go, thanks Dicky. Another lazy Maserati factory fitter job that didn’t get picked up in…quality control. Hmmm.

Thank you Dicky! I have the same on mine and it’s a 2007 QP! Furthermore I have some parts of the rubber trim that is shiny and some that are flat matt in appearance. I was thinking of masking the rubbers off and using plastidip to make them all uniform.

Would appreciate any opinions on this? I have enquired about replacing them from the main dealer but seemed to remember the cost was quite high.

My detailer discovered that thinners melt the failed rubber coating and make your rubbers look like new again. Just be very careful with thinners near paintwork.

Pull the rubbers back, it’s adhesive that dries out underneath especially around the screws which is why they protrude, just need cleaning and refitting.
Thank you Dicky, at least I can take that off the defects list.
Also this car also has the sections of the rubber that are flat matt again hood to know it’s not unique to the car I viewed.

Yes, I have the same on my 2012 GTS And was wondering what it was. So the same guy has been working there for a long time! And in our climate it shouldn’t be rust...thanks for clearing this up, it’s a pity that this was never picked up at the factory (or never acted on…).

I have this with mine and was fearing the worst that the frames were beginning to rot underneath the rubber. Glad its fixable. Another job to add to the list.....

I thought it was the rubber shrinking making the fixings visible and the only fix is new rubbers until they shrink again.

Thinners will clean them up, but if you can see the fixings the solution is live with it or mucho wonga.

Relaying indie info from when I had the qp.

Gummi pfledge is what you need to restore window rubber trims and eliminate squeaks etc.
