QP Battery Question

Does my 2006 duo-select QP have a battery isolator knob a la a 4200? I have an intermittent electrical glitch in the gear select system and I remember when I had my 42 that a battery "reset" often did the trick.

Thanks.

:)

Hi Elliott, not 100% sure about the 2006 model, my '04 does not have an isolator switch...

No worries and no rush Enz! :)

Just wondered if you'd had any problems with (or fitting) the isolator so we could mention to Elliot - like I say no issues with mine to date.

Now, that's interesting. Thanks Dhanj!

No worries Elliot. Less than 6 quid delivered to your door and will take you 10 mins to fit. Well worth doing. I've had my TR around a decade now and it still has the same battery that was fitted to the car when I bought it (and trust me it wasn't exactly new then). Admittedly the TR has a Ferrari factory fitted isolator but the principle is the same. No connection, no battery usage! ;)

Just a thought, why would u want to isolate the battery in normal use? The clock & setup menu would need scrolling through to reset.
A 13mm ratchet spanner will quickly release the neutral to body connection, which would achieve the same isolation objective.
Cheers

Dave, it just gives you the flexibility mate. Whether you want to try doing a system reset (as I think Elliot was trying to) or whether you want to isolate the battery for longer periods to preserve the battery it's just a convenient way to do it. I appreciate you could get your spanner out and undo the negative terminal but getting in to that tight space in the QP and having to tighten and untighten every time is not exactly a quick and convenient way of doing it. I appreciate that if the isolator was more money you might think about it but at 6 quid it's a no brainer if you ask me! :)

But, I do agree that you would just leave it switched on during periods of regular usage as clocks and seat settings will reset. But that's the beauty of an isolator, you don't have to use it all the time - just as and when you feel like it or need to.
