QP 4 wanted.

Looking to buy a QP 4. Wondering if it's better to have 2.8 V6, or 3.2 V8 ? Better to have an EVO ?

Generally the later you get the better as with any maserati really. V8 is a powerhouse but V6 is lighter on front wheels with a classic turbo lag.
I've got a late pre-evo 2.0 v6 manual and like it a lot. Has the feeling of a classic car. As with any of these get the best you can find.

Parts supply isn’t much of a problem, and no different between EVO and non-EVO.
Having had 3 EVO V8 versions, I now have a pre-EVO V8 and prefer it. But there’s very little in it, so just buy the best you can find.

Love them but the buy the best you can is sound advice, I had a manual V8 Evo, it was awesome but needed too much work but would happily have another which is why I keep my eye on the European websites as realistically a LHD EU car is the only option here but they can be pricey

Typical. There's two people I know of looking for a good QP4, just a time I don't want to sell mine.

I bet when I do want to sell, there'll be no one!

I've been doing a little basic research.

It looks like approximately 15 non-EVO QP4 cars were sold in the UK, between 1995 and 1998.
After this, approximately 30 EVO QP4 cars were sold here, between 1998 and 2001.

Obviously not all of these still exist or are road-worthy. I'd guess at a maximum survivor list of maybe 10 non-EVO cars and 20 EVO versions (if that). So it's very slim pickings.

Mmm..... I previously owned a silver V8 evo manual which turned out not to be what the seller had stated so I sold it, which I now regret.

There's a non-evo car coming up on Bonhams cars online, but it has 146,000 miles on the clock. It's previously appeared on a Car and Classic auction, unsold.

The blue QPIV Evo manual that recently sold at auction with the Shamal plate is up for sale again - I can’t remember where though

I like the look of the grey with blue car.
But it’s a very early example, with very high mileage, only a V6, an import, with virtually no service history, and warning lights. So it would need to be properly cheap.

A good friend of mine bought this earlier this evening, to go with his 3200 GT.
It’ll be interesting to see what work is required, but he doesn’t need to make it perfect all in one go. It’s booked in for a post-purchase inspection at Emblem next week.
Bought sight unseen, so anything could happen. But has a clean MOT, so can at least be driven away from the auction site.

It was delivered today - a colleague collected it and brought it back here to Dorset. Looks okay apparently. Hopefully I’ll see it over the weekend.
The initial plan is to get it to Emblem, give them a reasonable starter budget (maybe £5k) and have them do the most pressing mechanical jobs possible within that figure.
Cosmetic works can wait.
