Proxi Update Help

So, as part of me getting the apple car play kit done, I went ahead and lobbed off the blanking plate found in the glove box to install the usb/aux in part as my car didn’t have it fitted. There was a cable buried in there which I managed to reposition and connect. No potion I can see on my nit to enable the aux in so after much googling (that right?) found I needed a proxi upload to enable.

No problem so far, so a call to gray Paul Edinburgh to ask them.. and here is where it goes wrong...

1st response is you use the upgrade kit pt no 920002221 and it will work without a proxi upload.. this is the kit I used so, can’t find the option, and the instructions I found online for fitting says proxi upload (option 027) to enable.

2nd response seems my build number can’t have this option enabled I need to upgrade my nit to version 8...
I assume there re version 7 nit’s with this option enabled...

So anyone in the know? Don’t fancy spending thousands (probably) on a version 8 nit when I’m sure version 7 will work...

As an aside I have found a program for other makes of cars using similar systems and enable it the option.. which I’ll probably have a go at..

Seems for the moment I’ll be using an fm transmitter for the CarPlay kit...

Bit of a mess to read sorry...

I have a version7 nit with usb/aux connected. I had the aux option enabled at my specialist. This activated the CD changer aux input. There was no issue or problem doing so.

The hard part is connecting the cable to the right pins on the radio. The cable for the usb/aux has 2 plugs, one plug is quite obvious.
The other is a white connector with black/white/yellow wires. These are aux left/right/ground signal. These have to be wired into the cd changer aux input connector on the appropiate pins. I made a detailed post on the US forum: https://www.maseratilife.com/forums/granturismo/36961-just-got-2008-gt-4.html#post952215

I bought a quadlock extension plug so i could reuse the connectors, soldered some wires together and everything works fine and is all original.

It was quite a journey for me to get this working, so hope it helps!

Having looked at the back of my nit, both cables are already wired in. It’s getting the aux in switched on I’m after, not bothered with the usb as it’s power only.

Above was the reply from Maserati. Can’t do it on a v7 nit on my car I need a v8..

I assumed an Indy would still need the proxi file from Maserati?. Which seems to be my hurdle.

The proxi is requested through the factory, so i would suggest going to a different dealer or maserati specialist.
I would expect the aux option to be available when you have all cables wired (why else would there be a cable if you cant enable the aux?!)

Have you talked to Phil (Contego)? If not check out his website, and give him a call.

Anyone managed to get this done, I have spoken to Maserati Hamilton and Gray Paul and neither of them have been very helpful.

TIA

I’ve had the same issue, even though I provided a Maserati (USA) technical document showing that it needs a proxi update, they said Maserati doesn’t do that as a v7 won’t accept it.. have a load of emails saying as much, so I’ve gone with a radio transmitter which works fine for me.

So, my HW7 unit has the aux option. It is possible. Although the aux option then assumes you are using the CD-changer connection in my case. I suppose that when in case of ningmaster you have both cables that go to the dashboard are wired in, it should use that. But in my earlier mentioned thread on maseratilife i added te pinout to wire the original cable to the cd changer aux inputs.

Really, find a dealer or specialist and have them just get the proxi update done. They most likely just cant be bothered to even look properly. Why the **** would cables be wired to a headunit it they can no be used
The specialist i used was also suprised it was possible and those guys are very very experienced.
