Prices falling?

I, as a few others do, keep a keen eye on prices of 4200's, Gransports, QP's and obviously, Granturismos. There are more and more Granturismos appearing daily at present, now 100 inc wanted ads on Autotrader. The prices of these Granturismos seem to be forcing other prices down rapidly.
Six months ago, a good low mileage late 4200 was best part of £20k, now £16k or so. A good GS was £30k ish, now more like £25k and QP's are now available, as predicted in late teens. There are huge discrepancies in prices, with almost identical cars £7-8k apart, but surely cars that are overpriced will be reduced or sold through the trade eventually.
I believe this to be the sign that our sub £40k Granturismos will be available, not solely at auction, but on the open market by mid- Autumn. Great news for anyone after a Granturismo, not so good if you need to sell a GS or 4200 to pay for it, but nevertheless, things are definitely moving pretty quickly.

That is so weird Dicky, I was just on PH and found this and thought if main dealers are down here, private will be £50k before long. Ok the mileage is a tad high, but you cant knock the spec and colour, S and with full leather:

They will obviously take £60k on this one.

I do feel the dealers are starting to feel the pinch what with that GS at Carrs last week, the MC Victory, that was very low.

That GTS had caught my eye as it is very good value. It must be the mileage that is hitting it as it is a fair bit cheaper than others apart from one at £66.5k but that is white with blue leather.

The onl other thought I had is whether it was a smoker's car o had really bad wear on the driver's seat etc etc.

The other thing to bear in mind is that you will be hit for the mileage when you sell it unless your mileage is to be exceptionally low. That car has done 18k pa which is racey.

If that is a 58 plate GTS MC or an 09 plate GTS MC or Auto then it is the right price IMHO.

I bought my GTS Auto assuming that it trades at £47k at three years old but I will be doing 8/9k pa. £56k would be a result!

Bob, They always hold their prices better when it's a new range, when there are 5/6 year old cars around when yours is 3 years old, you'd do well to get £50k. Thats' what you've budgetted for and should be ok. Bet you're getting excited now. If it's an 09, it's two years old only and has lost £30k+, I couldn't buy a car knowing that but if you reckon you can afford it, enjoy every minute and fair play to you.

You use the same logic as me Dicky to predict prices.

I have bought on a c7 year view and can get the depreciation down to c£8.5k pa on that basis. As you know there are high four figure deals around on new cars and by speccing the car myself I have put minmal options on my car. Additionally I get new tyres, brakes, a three year warranty upgradable to five years for £2600 etc etc.
