Very handy for motorcyclists - tinted crash helmet visors are also legal in France,making identification almost impossible.
Legal in the UK too during good light especially if you're carrying a clear one.
If memory serves it's a maximum 10% tint, which is not a lot at all. It's very unlikely that your mirrored visor was E-marked for legal use.
It's been a while since I was involved in any discussions, though. Personally I either had an internal drop down, or wore sunglasses under my lid
