Trip to kwik fit or similar for their “free brake check” might be quickest route. Zero worries about about them selling you some expensive brakes. They won’t be able to get any!

Personally would not use that jack. Bigger unit with proper plated steel frame is more secure.

What do you think?
Would it be a mistake to buy one of these "Auto Express best buy" £40 trolley jacks from Halfords? I don't plan to be under the car every weekend and am hoping to be an occasional user only. But I don't trust my old bottle jack under the weighty Maserati, so I will need something.

I have a very very simmilar one from Ebay, and it works OK for changing tyres - I have 2 sets of tyres and rims and change them every spring and autumn.
2 tons capacity is more than enough to lift one side of GT.

It "will do" and I had one like that at first. The body was made of sheet metal and twisted using it on my driveway which had slight slope.
I think of tools as "investment" using the money saved on Garage bills by DIY.

Something like this.
I doubt this one would get under the Strad or a GT perhaps a Quattroporte sits higher. I bought a Clark one (sorry no link) designed to get under low slung cars.

Thanks Scaf. The link was just generic - I have a low entry. The point I was making is the construction using heavy metal plate, rather then sheet metal. Cut and welded / bolted rather than stamped / pressed.
