oil filler tube

I am coming up to a timing belt replacement and want to replace the idler pulley while i am in there. it looks like you can't change the idler pulley without removing the oil filler tube. the hex cap bolts holding the oil filler tube in place are seriously hard to get at. Any one done this and know what tool is best to get these bolts out?
