Oh no, failed the MOT

Took her up to Emblem today to have the airbag light turned off, and as it was nearly out of MOT, to have that done as well, air bag light was simple, connect to SD2 and switch it off, all good, but she failed the mot on emissions :angry:, It would appear that my 200 cel sports cats are not doing a good enough job . Myles said that these really need the pre-cats to get exhaust system hot enough, and that would explain why my engine management light comes on every so often. So its either Larini sports cats, as these have bigger cats, (totally out of the question at the moment due to fact may not be able to work for who knows how long) or go back to standard, but i don't have any standard cats at home as the system had already been modified when I bought it, or Myles said you can fit Renault clio sport 200 cats as primary's, as they are the correct shape, and they have done this in the past.
Does anyone have a set of 4200 standard cats lying about 94 bolt euro spec) that I could beg borrow or steal and fit just to get it through, and then change back again after?

Try thrashing the living daylights out of it. My 200 cell cat needs to be really hot to pass, just.

Thanks @Gp79 very kind of you, think travelling might be a problem at the moment, but will keep your offer in mind

Has it passed on the same cats previously?

This has happened to me I had to weld in new 200 cell cats which were 5.5" diameter.

The previous were 100 cell 4" diameter tiny things. I have a feeling that a vacuum leak on the intake contributed to the mixture being much richer thus making it fail but the 100 cell cats had to go because they were actually quite restrictive

The other solution... Find a more sympathetic mot test station. My 4200 upon purchase came with totally hollow stock cats and a clean MOT

Certainly would have been an option a few (6) years back, i undestood that nowdays its not possible as the machines were linked in online direct to Vosa ....................is that the case

Not been mot'd with this setup before, had primary removed and just stock secondary when I bought it, which I think are 600 cel, not sure of dis of new ones, they are 200cel, and he fits them to Astons and Porsches

I'm not 100% certain but I still hear stories of people cheating the system on emissions. I have not had the privilege all my MOT passes are legit
