NSF Door Switch

So just had the car looked over by Pete in Chessington two weeks after buying it (Yes, I know - the wrong way round). Quite happy overall with the car.

Main thing they said to get looked into ASAP were the NSF Door switch not working, as in the window coming down slightly before it is opened. Apparently causes problems with the battery later on and may even damage the door. Quoted about £200

Anybody any experience of this?

Diagnostics showed a a problem with the brake shift and gear engagement with the wrong shift (Which I haven't experienced yet - apart from in reverse at times, but I thought that was just me getting used to the reverse gear) May be due to ABS, as they couldn't get that to show up in the diagnostics neither. Couldn't quote me anything on that as they not sure what's wrong yet.

Anyhow, has put my mind to rest about anything being majorly wrong, and obviously will get those bits seen to sooner rather than later.

They were talking about a usual service being about £600 and a full one being about £1000 - I thought I'd seen service costs a bit lower than that?

4200 yes? I take it they mean the door microswitch that's connected to the handle assembly? If so it's about £100 from eurospares. should be a pretty easy self fix. If the window glass isn't dropping when you lift the handle then yes, it will damage the door frame trim, which is about £250 a side.

Stupid bloody price. Didn't Andy or Matt replace with a standard item for about £10?

Wouldn't surprise me if it's a standard microswitch. Mine went once so started looking, but never reoccured.

Cheers guys. looking at forum, looks like that price is a bit OTT. I'll have a call round, and also continue reading up

called to conform price again today, and was told it was about £300! Thought they came quite highly recommended? May ring around another couple of places for peace of mind.

Take a photo of the one you buy from Frank. And / Or mail me the one you remove.

I reckon it'll be about 50p
