Not another Spyder with roof issues - afraid so

Hi - well after 6 months of trouble free ownership since the car arrived here in Oz I have finally got to experience the "Maserati" ownership fun and games. My 2005 Spyder was working like a dream until a couple of weeks ago when on a nice Melbourne spring day in the high 20's I tried to put the roof down. Initially the hood wouldn't unhook from the passenger side fastener, then with a bit of help it did, however the rear window section lifts up but then the roof storage compartment doesn't budge. I have tried many of the solutions posted here and on the US site such as the emergency buttons located just behind the seats in the storage compartment (they don't do anything, not even lift the rear window section), I also found the little circular hole behind the drivers seat and tried to turn the screw (not moving) and hitting it with a hammer which I believe can unlock the fasteners on the roof storage compartment. I did a battery re-set and I also checked the fuses. Interestingly fuses 15-18 are not as recommended in the user manual (in terms of fuse amps) but they worked before and don't appear to have blown.

Does anyone have any other ideas I can try before I have to take it to an independent? I really hate to take it in if it's just a cheap easy fix. Are there any other fuses or relays I should test or am I doing something wrong with the circular hole behind the drivers seat?

It's going to be in the 30's here soon so the roof working is top of my list (along with an air-con re-gas).

So after re-reading this and the US forums I noticed some people said to hit the plate behind the drivers seat and some said passenger. I had been on the drivers side but a quick hit to the plate on the passenger side has resulted in a working roof :) is there likely to be an underlying problem or should it stay "fixed" now?

I would suggest ensuring everthing is lubricated properly and all the micro switches are clean

Good advice from Safrane. Just to be sure...make sure the hydraulic pressure valve is closed by turning the screw clockwise. And to be clear...thats the one behind the seat on the right hand side.
FYI...the buttons in the rear compartment are for the pull down motors only, and don't control the rear deck or the rear bow of the roof.

All that said, it seems as though the reset fixed it.
Just thecsame...Safranes advice is great advice that's easy and wise!

Good luck!

It happened to me as well a couple of times: the storage lid gets stuck and doesn't open. Normally just pushing/hitting the bolt/plate in the hole behind the driver seat is enough to unlock the pins and let the lid open.
The depressurization screw (passenger side) and the switches (back glove compartment) are not useful in these cases.
