No obd plug

I have a 1999 gt3200 and have been told there is no OBD plug, how is it possible to connect a scanner/laptop to the car to check fault codes or Check Engine Lamp as ive been told it will eventuallycome on. Ed:embarrassed:

In a word you cant. only post 2001 cars have are OBD compliant as per the motor industry instructions. You can only diagnose yours with SD2/3 and they are mega bucks.

Are you sure that right Matt! I ask only because even my 98 Camaro had the OBD plug !

Yep, only post 2001 3200s have an OBD plug, the earlier ones have a socket that the \sd2/3 can connect to, and there's a dutch 3200 owner called Marcel who builds his own diagnostic kit that will plug into it, but it doesn't read all the codes.

OBD is a standard that was made compulsary from 2001 but a number of manufacterers had started implementing the standard before the due date. Much like CATS being compulsary from 92 onwards, but plenty of cars manufactered earlier than that had them.
