evening all - first post so here goes.........

finally decided i want a maserati - been driving my fiat coupe 20vt for 6 years and think it's high time i stepped up a notch or two. Been looking at a few and the following have caught my eye:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2796625.htm

ideal colour combo for me but not sure re price as mileage is quite high - seen others on piston head priced similar (with lower miles) so is this one overpriced for what it is? does anyone know the owner or previous owner? looks well looked after to be fair and mileage totally doesn't put me off of cars if i know the car's been properly looked after.

then there's this

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2640213.htm

to me seems like it's worth viewing. very competitively priced to. does anyone know of indie's that are willing to look at cars for u - just to give that piece of mind

any help or pointers to links muhc appreciated

Welcome, two nice cars to consider.

3200 is the icon with the boomerang lights, bonnet vents and mad turbo power. But the 4200 is descibed as the 3200 without the issues. Stronger, newer, more relaible car but you ned to drive both to decide. Both avalaible as manual, but the 3200 can be auto whereas the 4200 has an automated/robotic manual box (paddle shift) only. 3200 has the engine based on a Ferrari 308 whereas the 4200 has most of the the F430s engine (detuned), the 550s gearbox and the F360s brakes. Vastly more than the sum of it's parts. I loved mine.

History is everything, good indie servicing is as good if not better than main dealer stamps. All the Indie's will do a PPI for you, where are you in the country?

As you stated, mileage isn't an issue if looked after right, I sold my 4200 with 70k miles on it and it was in great nick. A few 3200s with 100k plus on them. Use other examples on PH to knock the sellers down if they want to seel it, they will.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome to the forum....Both cars look in great condition but as you the say the 3200 is over priced for the miles I think...But could be worth a look as I'm sure they will deal as these cars are not easy to shift....The 4200 again looks great and there is a thread bu Ghostydog on here as he was also interested in the car....It does seem very good value for money.....

What ever you do that indie inspection is a must as £200/£300 spent now could save you £2000/£3000 down the line...There is a thread on her that lists all the Maserati indie........Frank will be along some to point you in the right direction I'm sure........

Are you in the South as there are some good ones down this way.

Sounds like you're just down the road from me, I'm in Putney! I have always used Emblem for everything, not exactly close by but they can travel :) Sure there are more local types though and Nuvola are just round the corner... Not heard anything bad about them!

Good advice there from Marcos.....................just re-emphasize getting an indie inspection done regardless of who you buy it off.

Welcome to our forum BTW!

Emblem is one of the best I believe and worth traveling for that inspection...If the owner is willing that is...

thanks for the welcome guys!

Dem - maser - north london you say? used to live there myself....enfield/southgate/palmers green.....not been back there for AGES...however i digress.....back to the 3200

i do luv the black 3200 with the Tan. for me that colour with tan or avorio is perfect. and funnily enough i'd want to put grandsport wheels/front/rear bumpers ( i cant help fettlin just a lil bit with cars), but the price is the hesitant point. you are probably right. i make an offer and if he says no he says no.

Andyk - think you've hit the nail on the head - if the owner is willing
