Hello,

I've been reading threads on the forum for a while, checking out the richardgrace.co.uk website often also.

In the past have had 2 Vantage V8's , a Coupe followed by a Roadster, before that a 996 911 C4S Cabriolet and before that an E46 M3 Cabriolet.

I was intending to get another V8 Vanatge but can't stop looking at the Grancabrio. I'm looking at spending +-£30k.

Thought i would ask a couple of questions from the fountain of knowledge here :

Car i'm looking at is a 2010 car. It won't be used daily, i will continue to run an old BMW 6 series for the 25 mile boring smart motorway commute :).

The Grancabrio in question has had 4 services from what i can see, the next is due August 2020. so it's the 10 year service , what does that entail ?

Car is located in the East Midlands. Once it becomes possible to travel again, can you recommend an independent Maserati specialist in that area that could do an inspection on the car ?

Front and Rear brake pads will need replacing soon, any recommendations on what make to buy ?

Any other specifics, pitfalls to beware of on a 2010 car ?

I'm located in Fleet, Hampshire. Any GT or Grancabrio owners in the area ? Would love to hear where you take your car for servicing etc....

Thanks for reading,
Regards,
Nick Winter

Welcome along Nick, in response to your queries:

10 year is a minor, so about £800-£1000 at a good indie. In Hampshire you’ve got the pick of them, you’ve Emblem in Poole, Meridien in Lyndhurst, Sports Italia in Chichester, or possibly Mike Roberts in Fareham but he’s used to maintaining the older cars in the main. For inspection, East Midlands, Shiltech in Loughborough. Re pads, we use OEM only but there’s cheaper alternatives like EBC etc. As far as other things to look for, PPI is all you need. Hope that’s of help, Dicky

Welcome Nick

I'm not a million miles away from you down in Southsea but used to live in Loughborough and would recommend Geoff at Shiltech.

Dicky (worth a chat with him BTW as he's a go to guy on here for many) has covered the servicing choices down here - Emblem and Sports Italia are the ones I've used most recently and they are both spot on. Also may be other options in the London direction from you - no doubt someone will advise.

Good luck with the search.

Thank you both for the quick response.

The current owner is overseas plus i am also deemed 'high risk' so I won't be viewing the car
for approximately 6 weeks or so.

Dicky - I may give you a call at some point around the time it's safe for me to go view the car.

Thanks
Nick
