Newbie. Does anyone know this car or the selling garage?

Hi guys,

After having an Audi TT, a v10 S6 and more recently a Range Rover (don't ask), I'm finally considering going for a proper car!!! I've always been into the masers especially since a good friend of mine bought a 3200 years ago and has had various 4200, spyders and Gransports since them. I've been a passenger in all of his vehicles and have driven a few of them too.

I've also got a good friend who is a technician at Stratstones Ferrari in Wilmslow so he will be able to give me his advice and I will be going into ownership with my eyes wide open.

So, I've spotted this being sold in Loughborough and will hopefully be nipping down to see it soon. Does anyone have any knowledge of the vehicle or the selling garage? I suppose having the car serviced by one of the sponsors of this forum can only be a good thing?

Hi

Suggest you speak to Geoff at Shiltech, Loughborough (sponsors this section) as he will likely be the guy doing the prep for this one. EDIT-see he is mentioned in the ad!
I'm sure he had some of HG's cars there when I was in before.
He will do a PPI as well and you can rely on his say so 100% as many on here will testify.

The dealer has been there for a while but even here in Loughborough don't hear much about him. The owner is ex Graypaul IIRC.

Good luck.

Hi KFP and welcome to the forum. I don't know the car. But, from the blurb, it seems to be a good one. The clutch is a major expense and this one had had a new one relatively recently and so, should present no problems for many miles to come.

At first glance, it seems a teeny bit on the pricey side.

Others will be along shortly to offer their opinion. Good luck with you search. When you find the right car for you, I assure you that you'll be more than delighted with the Maserati experience. :)

Thanks for the swift response guys. You're right, the car does seem a touch expensive. I'll have to see if this is reflected in my possible trade in price and whether there is any movement in the deal. It's cost to change that matters to me so I'm not going to get all carried away with screen prices and trade in values yet...

Hi KFP

I paid similar money to this last year for my 2006 Facelift with mileage of 22k which I knew was on the toppy side but it was easily the best Facelift I'd seen for sale for a long time. From the photos this car looks to be in similar condition to mine.

I had Mathew at Giallo carry out a pre-purchase inspection for me (after pulling out of an earlier deal on another car that came back with v. poor inspection results), so if you are serious would definitely recommend you giving Mathew a call.

Even though the clutch was only changed 13k/14k miles ago I'd strongly advise getting a clutch wear percentage read out done as you can use this to leverage a better price.

Remember the clutch readout is very approximate........better relying on on miles has it done and when was it changed

Always buy the best you can and get the little old inspection done!

That sounds too cheap, maybe give them a call - I think you'll find it's in the region of £2k.

if it had a new clutch at 19k, then it could be due another clutch within next 5500 miles

I've no idea about this car, and this may be a one off, but I enquired about a Ferrari 360 they are selling and was told it was in 'excellent condition', it's not, far from it apparently.Just make sure you get an independent inspection done.

You guys are right, this seems to be top money for this car. I've also spoken to a good friend who also went to view this car a few weeks ago and he didn't feel quite right about it.

Anyway, I've found another here www.marque1cars.com/mobile/cars/maserati/4200/cambiocorsa/1286/0 2007 car, slightly higher mileage but cheaper. Hopefully, I'll be able to get down to view it next week.

What did your friend mean by feeling not quite right about it? I'm not saying the car isn't bad. But it could also be a good one. Hence the price tag.

was looking at that advert earlier....It looks a nice car and worth a look...The all black interior will not be for all...Would have been nice with some better colour piping but still a nice face lift car.

KFP I would say £19k for a car with mileage of 60k is v. lumpy. For that money I personally wouldn't buy a car with more than 30k miles on it. Maybe some others will think differently...

Def room for a cheeky offer...Suppose as its a 2007 car it may be worth more than the 2005 cars at that price ...maybe.

I think the £19k price tag is a little high but I presume the vendor is going to try and justify it due to the fact that it's a younger car than most on sale and is a facelift. The garage are in the process of getting bids on my trade in so I might be travelling down next week to view if we're not too far apart on price.

The one at Hamilton Gray is being sold on a sale or return basis and apparently the current owner has only had it since December. Also, there's been a long length of time between services although it's been serviced now. Also, my friend seems to remember it being up at a few thousand pounds less than its current asking price.
