Now i have a Gransport (2005) I'm going to start asking newbie questions again!

Valved exhaust - doesn't sound any different when sport is engaged - either it's stuck shut or stuck open (sounds tame though). How different/loud should valves open be?

Sat Nav - no disk - anyone have a back up copy spare?

That will do for now!

YHTM.....am sure the GS guys will come along, thought there was a really noticeably difference open/closed....or maybe that was only with the Larini option?

You've looked in the disc slot.....not gotten put into the 5 CD changer in boot by mistake(if it has one)

Again, someone on here was doing some work on these......do a search for disc......:)

Congrats YHTM and I'm with Andy - pics pics pics :)

Re the exhaust, it should be very noticable. It doesnt happen instantly, it takes around a second or two before kiking in, but its is definately noticable, even at idle from inside the car. It almost sounds like its blowing, but obviously it isnt.

As for the Nav, I'm afraid I can't help as I don't have the standards nav. From memory, its better to buy a replacement CD's direct from the head unit manufacturer, rather than from Maserati.

Thanks

Pics will follow - as soon as the rain goes!

I booted it on the motorway yesterday in sport and no sport and there was no difference - I will do a static rev test tomorrow to double check - could be the first test of the 3 month warranty if no difference.

Initial thoughts on the drive are great - I drove both yesterday. Better driving position, steering seems more 'immediate'/smoother and it seems quicker when flooring it. Now I realise that could all be my imagination in an attempt to justify buying it!
I'm not imagining that it looks better - more contemporary and RED! It's in stunning condition and I cannot find a single mark or blemish inside or out - didn't miss a beat on a 180 mile journey, let's hope that all lasts!

IIRC, the valves open anyway, whether in sport mode or not, from around 3k rpm, so sound wise, there wouldnt be any different when clogging it.

The suspension should feel noticable stiffer in sport though and the gear changes should be a lot swifter. You should 100% see/feel the difference in each of those.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures and also possibly seeing the car at Stanford if you are still going YHTM??

Woody, Sport mode def speeds up gear change and stiffens suspension but has no impact on exhaust note. I thought I read that it was sport mode that opened valves rather than 3k revs in any mode but I stand to be corrected by the experts! Maybe I am being spoilt by the straight through pipes I have on the 4200.

Adam, I am really hoping to go to Stanford Hall but am at the England game on Saturday and not sure how it will be received if I am out all day Sunday too! Maybe I could do an hour or so early morning, what time is it open?

I took some pics of the GS today - it was incredibly bright so the pictures aren't brilliant - I need some lessons in digital photography as I have a decent camera but always use the full auto facility - which defeats the object of having the camera really!

I've included a couple of the interior as there seems to be interest in the various options surrounding Tech Cloth - it's now growing on me - I love the red piping!

B E A U T I F U L. YHTM, if your still going to Stanford on Sunday, i will take some good pics for you and give you some tips. Full Auto mode is not a bad idea in the sun as direct sunlight is hard to take a good picture.

Might be able to help with the disc shortly. My gransport purchase is on th ship to Australia and the nav disc is useless down here. You are welcome when it arrives in about 6 weeks if you haven't got one during that time. Geoff
