Hi,

So it looks like our current runabout car might be dead, here's what it was and why we liked it.

Mercedes A Class (yes, the one that tipped over!)
2.1 litre EVOLUTION (Long wheel base edition)

Flip the rear seats right down, or remove them.
Basically turn it into a small van, very easily.
We could fit massive Christmas trees, furniture, a double mattress, even a fireplace in the back.

Not big
3.77m length
1.71 width

High driving position (I think this might make choices limited)

Did not look like massively a family car! (we have not got kids)

Any recommendations based on that?

Looking to spend £5k-10k on something second hand, but reliable.

Cheers

I'm looking at my own A class W168 at the moment trying to decide whether to spend some money on it and keep it or replace it. Hard to to replace such a versatile car. I'm leaning towards a Suzuki Ignis SZ5 if I replace it.

when i was looking for a new second hand car for my daughter recently i came across the ford ecosport and was quite impressed with it, daughter decided on the on an Audi S1 eventually, but the ford seems to be an ideal candidate for what you're looking for

Fantastic cars - miss ours, the current model just does not cut it.

Another vote for a Yeti. Another alternative is a Fabia with the 1.2 3 cylinder engine. These are great cars with superb dealers.

I have a 57plate Skoda Scout as my daily, and i cant fault it. 2L 8v diesel. Currently on 178k, and can fit loads in the back, and i throw anything I like in it. Cost me £2k a year ago, and already done 12k in it. Would/will get another one.
