Hi everyone,
I have been viewing this excellent forum for a while now.
I have been interested in buying a 3200 for a number of years and nearly did so last summer, but for various reasons decided to buy a Porsche Cayman instead.
As many of you have said, once the lure of the trident gets you, you are in trouble and despite the Porsche being utterly reliable and a very capable drivers car, I still hankered after a 3200.
So living on the Wirral and with the many, many recommendations/ comments on this forum, I contacted Richard Grace regarding his 2001 silver Assetto Corsa and arranged a veiwing.
After convincing "'er in doors", that swapping German reliability for Italian "flair" was a good thing to do, a deal was struck with Richard.
I am hoping to collect the car later this week and will post some pictures in due course.
This will be my first Maserati and as with so many on this forum, represents something of a dream fulfilled.
My "fun" car history has been quite varied, but probably fairly typical of someone with a keen interest - MGs and Minis in my student days, a couple of Lotus (Excel and Elan) then Lancias (a Montecarlo and a Gamma Coupe) and a couple of Porsche (a 911 SC and the Cayman).
As for Maserati, my first and lasting memory was a trip to Bill Smiths garage at Two Mills, near Chester, back in the early 1980's who had a Merak SS for sale. I was about 10 years old, but absolutley spellbound by its shape and "presence" (and I don't think I have ever seen one on the road since) and have been interested in all Maserati models since.
I hope to meet some of you in the north west area over the summer. I will also need to introduce myself to Marios at Autoshield!
Once I build up my confidence with the car, I will look to get to other meetings, further from home.
I will post again once I get the car home.
It sould be a special bank holiday weekend!
Cheers
