New Ghibli S purchase - SKYHOOK?

Hello all,

I am in the process of going through the specs of a new Ghibli S and I cannot quite decide on whether I need Skyhook. My main day to day use will be local A roads and Motorway mileage, but I like to get out and have a blast at the weekend.

What are people's opinions on the benefit of Skyhook and do you think this car needs it?

Also, are there any rumours of a new facelift Ghibli just around the corner and should I wait?

Many thanks
Pete

They made some slight revisions for the 16MY, with electric boot open/close ( which is also foot operated, something I find very useful), and Blind spot with cross traffic alert.
They also made improvements to the sound deadening and a few other minor changes.
I have Skyhook, and whilst expensive, I think is thoroughly worth the money. It gives the car a great ride even with 20" wheels, whilst reducing body roll in corners. In both these respects my Ghibli is better than the Jaguar XF I had previously.

Welcome. I have driven an S with skyhook and was impressed with the performance and the suspension options.

My GranTurismo has skyhook and I think it really benefits from it. I have driven a few diesel Ghiblis' without skyhook and that would not be my choice. Others maybe along in a minute with a different view.

With the Levante coming out the chances of Ghibli revisions have to be high but which model year will it be? Dealers find out changes about May time for September production onwards if that helps?

Thanks Keith. That's really good to know. I am considering the 20" wheels, so I need to factor that into the equation.

It will be Blu Emotion like your profile pic!

Thanks again

I don't have Skyhook and wasn't too bothered either way. I'll likely make some suspension mods of my own down the line anyway and that is easier without Skyhook.

If money is not a consideration, i'd get it. If it is, then there are other options that i'd rather have.

Also, why are you speccing up a new order S when you can save fortunes on a dealer demo? There are plenty about.

Very good point about the dealer stock. Indeed that's exactly where I started, but I am struggling to find a Blu Emozione with Sabbia interior which is fully loaded. I may keep looking. As the wife says... you don't NEED to order one NOW...

I was disappointed by the quality of the stock audio system. My Lexus GS with Mark Levinson premium audio is awesome and has spoiled me somewhat.

My mind at the moment is "Skyhook, or Harmon Kardon", or "sell a kidney and get both"

That is helpful, also, thank you.

I would have got skyhook however I waited for a 6 month old one so didn't have the choice. I have stock suspension on mine on the 20" Uranos and I find the ride great. It does roll a little in the corners but not bad. I believe the sport suspension is FSD dampers?
I did come from an Alfa GTA however, which was firm to say the least.

No upgraded stereo although they did improve it in 2015. Can't see if it has Skyhook.

Wow! thanks. I'm on the phone asap. Why didn't that turn up in the Mazza Approved Used section!!??

Due to it not being used! Personally I would go factory order and get the options I wanted as discounts can be good on orders too.

It's worth bearing in mind, discounts are available. I got close on 10% when I odered my car.

Argue with them on price hard. I got £3k off mine.

New discounts can be up to 15%.

That's good to know. I've been offered 8% straight off, without even starting a negotiation.

The one above in Nottingham doesn't have Skyhook, nor any of the little things I'm after, such as the Blind Spot warning and Reversing Camera. It was a worthwhile conversation though as their advice is Skyhook is a must if considering 21" wheels, so that's also worth a thought.

Thanks for the input folks.

Best of luck. It's important to get what you want as the standard spec on a Ghibli is a bit light.

Welcome along.

I have driven Ghiblis with and without and to me, it's well worth going for Skyhook. It transformed the ride when driven hard

Good luck
