You’ve got to wonder about Ferrari and/or it’s drivers shooting themselves in the foot all the time…. Just shows the quality of Hamilton and Verstappen who hardly set a foot wrong, whether you like them or not. Just pure class in terms of getting to the finish in the best position possible. The most interesting stat: Max has won more races off Leclerc’s poles than Leclerc himself: 6-4. Both have 16 poles, Max has 27 wins, Leclerc 5.

Agree, Max drove a perfect race and for the two Mercedes to finish 2nd and 3rd in what is a car that isn’t there yet was a great result for them. It shouldn’t be long before we have Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari (if they can get the reliability right) all fighting each other rather than the usual two teams that seems to happen each year. Will say that Carlos drove a great race but what the **** were Ferrari doing bringing him in. I’m sure there would have been a few horses heads in the strategist beds that night.

I dont think it was a clear cut decision either way regarding Carlos. When he pitted for mediums under the safety car the Sky commentators were adamant he would have to pit again saying it was impossible for him to go to the end. Within 15 minutes they had totally forgotten this and were slagging Ferrari off for bringing him in.
I think if I were them I would have chanced leaving him out but it was a touch and go decision, not a howler like everyone seemed to be making out

As it is he drove the most laps on a Medium of any car this year, so yes, it was never likely that he could 1-stop. It’s not the shortest lap either plus it was hot.

This. And if the tyre had delaminated at 200mph the results would not have been pretty.

Yep, great qualifying… Be interesting to see what Max can do from 10th….Certainly the grid is shaken up a bit for tomorrow.

I thought he got a pole last year when Sir Lewis got covid...hopefully Merc won't mess up like last year and he'll get his first win...

I have a feeling this is now one too much for Ferrari this season, not only in terms of the championship but also in terms of some heads must certainly roll now. Any confidence the drivers may have had is now shot which will mean more mistakes by them as well. You've got to hand it to the Red Bull strategy team and Max doing the overtaking on the track on what is supposed to be a difficult track for overtaking. Mercedes coming back will put a further nail in Ferrari’s coffin.
