Just buying 2008 Granturismo from JCT in Leeds - fulfilment of a long held dream. Grigio Touring with Nero interior. I'll post some pics when I pick it up in a week or so.

It has just been serviced and I'm getting a 12 month warranty and new tyres so I'm pleased with the deal. However, there did seem to be quite a lot of travel in the brake pedal before any action and I was wondering if this was normal or a sign the pads need replacing? It has had a check by JCT so it's probably OK but any advice would be welcome.

I'm also planning to get a trickle charger and have seen the thoughts about Ctek on other threads. I wasn't sure if the 5.0 version is up to the job or if the battery needs one of the more powerful ones?

Any response most welcome.

Looking forward to annoying the neighbours!

Welcome to the forum DH. Great choice of car and I'm sure a like minded member will be along shortly to respond to your questions. You'll find us a kindly and knowledgable bunch so please feel free to ask any questions, even ones you think are stupid. I do it all the time! Have fun with your new chariot and remember, the harder you use them the better they get.

Hi DH
I looked at one there but they didn't offer me a good deal with the part ex so ended up going down to Southampton of all places, from York!!
I've only had it about 3 weeks now and everytime I get in it I think "bloody **** the brakes have gone" but you soon get used to it. Not sure if a fluid change would solve this but I'll get it done when my service is due later on this year at Leeds.
I purchased the CTEK MXS 5.0 and it works just fine. Great piece of kit.
The last 2 weekends I've been to Leeds just to drive through the tunnels with the windows down. I know it's a bit childish but the sound is amazing.
If you need anymore info please feel free to ask.Hope to meet up at any local meets
regards Nick

I tried 3 GT's before purchasing the one I have recently got. Two of the three had longer brake pedal travel than I was comfortable with. On further inspection, it was down to either a lot of pad wear and/or failure to change the brake fluid at a previous service. Check out your service history invoices and check to see what was done/not done. A set of GT front pads: £560! [And that's from Eurocar].

The GT (2008) has/needs a 100Ah battery. The Ctek 5 should cover this.

When I went back to JCT and saw the inspection report, it confirmed that there was water in the brake fluid (odd since it was only serviced a month ago with a brake fluid replacement). The rear pads were also a bit worn so that would explain it.

Both being sorted before collection next week.

I'm struggling to sleep for excitement - it's like being 10 again!

Congratulations Doohickey on your new baby. A realisation today - if I'm not behind the wheel of my Masser then I'm scrolling through all the threads on this forum. A lot of fun reading but where does the time go???
I doubt the smile will ever leave your face. Enjoy!!!
