Howdie guys, Bought a 2002 Manual Coupe a month ago. Flew up to Mackay, looked at it for 10 mins. went down to the bank and paid for it and the first time I drove it was when I left the chaps house and started heading south. I live in Melbourne so it was a 2400 km trip. Took 3 days and really enjoyed myself. Its been a UK import in its early life and so far seems beautiful. Used less than a cupfull of oil and did around 24 MPG. And I seem to have kept my licence. Will no doubt have questions in the future. Photos will follow when I take some. Colin

Hi Colin,
A warm welcome to the best worldwide Maserati forum..!! 24mpg, you must have very light feet mate, or a block of wood under the accelerator, that's magnificent..!! Let's see some pics..!!
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome. That 24 mpg was cruising at between 100 and 120 klms/hr with the odd heavy pedal when overtaking trucks etc. Couldnt believe it myself and kept checking. Around town I think it will be a VERY different story. I dont know how you blokes can enjoy these things and keep your licences. I know Im going to have a job and Im not a young bloke anymore. Lovelly to drive and it seems to feel better the faster you go. Colin

Welcome aboard Rusty,
I did the opposite of you and bought my car from Melbourne and drove it back to Canberra ( 1 day trip for our international readers ).
I've had no speeding fines in 18 months and 35,000 km, as I find I can enjoy the acceleration is short bursts then back off to sane speeds.
Our Melbourne contigent will have all the contacts you need for maintaining. There were comments recently about one to avoid too.

Lovely looking car, how will you keep your licence down there in the police state?
Your coppers have no sense of humour. My daughter was just pinged for 5km over the limit.
Up here they only get interested around 10 to 15km over.
You must be in one of Melbourne's outer suburbs as that background looks very bushy.

Looks great Rusty. I'll be keeping an eye out for that plate around the streets of Melbourne although as Bruce has spotted the pic doesn't look to be in the city 'burbs.

Thanks every one, We have 46 acres up at Smythesdale which is about 20km's west of Ballarat. I keep most of the toys up there [bulldozers, tractors etc. ] I share my time between there and Melbourne [East St.Kilda ] Your right about the speed paranoia in Victoria. Thats the thing that spoils having the car.
