MSP light issue

Carrying on from the tyres thread from Loz, I got a new pair of rear vredsteins a couple of weeks ago ( plus they altered the camber due to both inner shoulders being down to the canvas whilst 5 mmms left over rest of tyres.....I suspect they disturbed the MSP sensors thingies)

The day after the MSP light came on at roughly 10 miles into the journey.

When I got back from my extended break, again the light comes on after 10 miles driving and did so several times.

Not done a reset as I suspect I need to do a bit more to rectify the situation, a photo of said location of sensor would be fab plus any other advice, a purely physical fix and not electronic, does it need Sd2ed etc.....

Hum, the MSP is traction control related, which is a retardation of the ECU basically cutting power. Where the sensors are, I dont know, but would have thought that this is more likely to be software related, pre programmed in.

But what do I know, only giving my opinion, and probably not much help.

Conaero, can simply altering the camber alone ( a physical change) be enough to upset/cause a seizure of the MSP system...I think Loz mentioned changing the camber setup to reduce inner shoulder excessive wear.....? Or something hit/moved etc......all opinions welcomed....:)

Frank, from memory there is an actuator that is attached to the anti roll bar upright, that would for sure be upset in the event of a camber reduction, Ill try and look out a pic for you.

Had a look on Eurospares, but can see the bit I am on about, sure I have seen it poking around in the arches of the GS, its like a small bar that goes into an electronic box, think its on the rear hubs?

Sort of like a yaw control sensor.

.....don't worry.....I wouldn't know it unless it had a label on it like you get on plants at a garden centre!

Just read up a few posts on Maseratilife.........same as happened mind basically!

"what I know is that my MSP button has a diagonal line through it and about a month ago (after tyre and wheel-bearing service) the instrument facia light for it came on; battery off and then on again, and haven't since seen the msp light ...car felt and feels the same either way"

Then this fulsome explanation.......

"Maserati Stability Programme integrates the ABS, ASR and EBD functions by acting on the brakes and engine to help the driver control the vehicle even in the most extreme conditions. The system accomplishes this using a set of sensors to detect any deviations from the ideal dynamic behavior of the car. These sensors track everything from wheel position to the steering angle and toe-in.

When necessary, the system acts on the brakes and engine to guarantee that the driver always remains fully in control of the car. Moreover, if the Skyhook or Cambiocorsa are present, the MSP offers two modes of intervention, one is normal (more control and safety oriented) and the other (which the driver selects) is more performance-geared and once again leaves more room for fun driving by intervening to a lesser extent on stability control. Finally, expert drivers and sport purists will be happy to know that they can completely exclude electronic stability control altogether at the touch of a button on the central console, whilst still leaving the ABS active. The kind of meticulous attention that has been devoted to active safety has also been lavished on important passive safety features too."
