MOT & a few niggles...

Well she sailed through her MOT this morning with just a corroded contact on the nearside brake bulb needing to be scraped to work but...

I have a steering rack gater full of oil so it is all hanging down = rebuild myself or send away?

My CC warning light is coming on due to lack of oil and sure enough there is a leek at the back plate of the actuator = It should be possible to remove plate and reseal myself but how and where do I put the fluid back in and what fluid do I need?

Finally the rubber gaiter that sits arounf the F1 actuator has perrished and is flapping about, any ideas on availability or should I just cable tie it?

The leak seems to be from the joint of the double domed end cap to body of the pump...

45 is the rubber gater...

Eurospares the gater for the actuator is £55 so I think cable ties will do for now!

I need to get control of my facts; this is the F1 Clutch hydraulics actuator!

....so does it connect to the F1 pump in any way...excuse my dumb question...ergo share same fluid reservoir...if so there is a post on changing the F 1 pump with photos on how to refill

Yes the same system just a whole lota hoses and fiddly bits! At least this unit is reasonably accessable being bolted on the near side of the gearbox. I don't see any listing of service parts for the unit and a replacement on Eurospares is £1,400 + eek!

I'm hopeing this is the same as the Alfa and that may be servicable. I'll spend some time later checking it out. I'll need to figure a way of refilling it as that would probably suffice for a good long time. There is the slightest of patches on the garage floor where she has been parked & I can put some card under to guage the rate of loss.

Thanks for the info Frank

CHF acquired, think I need a clear day to get the boot out to access resovour and refill, there is a local Alfa specialist who I shall talk to about servicing the controller and steering box; thinking that I could get it ready and save a few shackles...

That said, the light has not come back and she is driving like a scalded banshee!!! Just had a superb blast down some local lanes, only scared some rabbits & myself! Started to feel some brake fade so backed off a bit....

Not gospel, as still getting my head round the Maser, but isn't the filler behind the boot panel, where Petrol tank is? Take boot panel off, and its there, I believe?
And F1 pump, is same as Alfas, but about half the price!

Difficulty to bear in mind is the Maserati supplied version of pump comes with accompanying box of electrics included, the other supply just the plain pump hence cheapness...........so I was told!

Loz is the guru here.
Sure he said, it was the same. But he is in heaven, watching the Le Mans etc!
