Monaco trip pics

Following my post last week, explaining how my windscreen had cracked 3 hours ahead of setting off for Monaco, I am now back and am so glad I took the risk to still take the Maserati. The original crack was about 4 inches and thankfully this remained static until meeting an epic pot hole in Maranello, which extended it to its current 18 inches or so.

Enjoyed the obligatory stop at the Gueux circuit, 2 full days spanking around the alpine passes, spent a night at (the impressive)Maranello Village, saw the Maserati, Ferrari and Lamborghini factories, the Fiorano track, visited the Ferrari museum in Maranello and the house of Enzo in Modena, front row start line seats for the race and many bottles of local wines were consumed.

£1000 of petrol and £250 in road tolls certainly makes the Easyjet proposition look value for money but as it was a significant birthday, I feel it was money well spent. Just need to get hold of Autoglass now.

Here are a selection of pics and I decided to attempt a Matt Monro style homage video, as I am pretty certain that this has never been done before. :blushed:

Great vid' thanks for sharing.

What did you use to film it and how did you manage to keep the wind noise so low on the exhaust shots?

Did a similar one about five years ago on my trip on the Route Napoleon...wished I had a camera man to get the drive past shots.

Oh last point, where is the route you filmed on?

Thanks

Camera is a GoPro Hero I bought earlier this year together with a suction mount. Used the Donington festival as a practice run on how to use it. (if you click on the link on the youtube page, you can see it.)

After mounting the camera in numerous places, over the back bumper seemed to be the only spot without wind noise so I thought I would shoot some footage pointing at the pipes as well as some rear facing shots.

I didn't use a cameraman for the drive by shots. Just left the camera on a wall or on the ground in a suitable place, turned around and drove past again. Fortunately this part of the world is sparsely populated and seemingly ****** free.

For the opening bridge shot you need to head north out of Aosta on the petit St Bernard pass and it is near a village called Saint-Rhemy-en-Bosses. For the tunnel where the Miura exploded you head west out of Aosta and it is the final tunnel before you reach La Thuile. We spent a night in Aosta as not only is it is a beautiful picturesque town but there are good driving roads in all directions with the added benefit of the Italian Job locations.

I had been planning this one for a couple of years. It was a trip for the boys (wife at home). I will now be eating beans on toast for the next 12 months and wondering how I can replace 2x shredded Pirelli P0s, new front pads, get a service from Marios and also impress her with a decent holiday before Christmas. There may be trouble ahead.

Hmmmm... Gopro fail for me, had it mounted to the windscreen last trip out, but no footage as failed to switch it on properly, trying to get the hang of the remote.

excellent video dude, made my day, so jealous, looks like a great trip. I did the route des Alpes in a rental one time and it was awsome, the Maserati would be truly epic on those roads
