MC Stradale purchase!

There were about 36 of the 2 seaters sold here, so we have almost a third on the forum, given that some have been crashed or exported.
I can’t now recall how many of the saloon versions were sold, but it was quite a lot more and they were available for several years (not just the one year, for the 2 seaters). I’m thinking about 110, meaning we have nearly 10%. The addition of useable back seats was a major attraction.
So, we’ve got about 15% of the UK Strads on here. (Plus 1 in Chile!)

Saloon versions, haha love it!
I heard there were 87 of those sold here but either way with write-off’s and exports it must be under 100.

Sorry - don’t have any figures for those. Lovely cars though. But I decided I didn’t need an MC-Cab and an MC-Strad, and if keeping just one, the winner was obvious.

You're very close, should I therefore be thankful that it was £37.5k?!

Of course, if I were to change the Stradale, it certainly would not be on a trade in at a MD, but interesting to get their numbers
They would then advertise it for 59k...

When I requested my spec sheet from Maserati I asked for production numbers for U.K. cars and got this reply

2 seater UK 2011-2014: 52
4 seater Uk 2014-2016: 155

Interesting to compare those numbers to (the admittedly not 100%) HowManyLeft:

MC Stradale Semi Auto 2011-2020 - 191 total new registrations (of which at 3Q20: 144 still registered / 12 SORN / ? exported / ? written-off)

Which is close, but still leaves some 16 unaccounted for as new registrations doesn't match the built figure (191<207). Presumably some could have been exported prior to registration.

HowManyLeft also references an auto - which if true, probably shouldn't really wear the Stradale badge:

MC Stradale Auto 2019-2020 - 16 total new registrations (of which at 3Q20: 14 still registered / 1 SORN / ? exported / ? written-off)

Edit: I suppose these could be the missing 16 from above, just misclassified - but would seem odd if 2016 build cars were still being registered as new in 2019/2020.

It has happened before with Maserati that cars were shipped abroad unregistered and then brought back to the UK and sold as new /old stock.

Im sure somebody will remember the full details but if IIRC it was a Singapore dealer that went bust and their stock was tied up for years before they were eventually sold off.

If you have a look at the how many left site for maserati coupe cc (4200) were still being registered as new upto 2019. Some of these late registration were the singapore cars coming back. There were 2 of these cars offered for sale in the uk in 2019 but i cant remember which dealer was selling them. Im sure they are mentioned in a thread on here somewhere.

The strads your talking about could have been caught up in the same or similar situation.

I'm happy to believe the Maserati figures of 52 x 2-seats and 155 x 4-seats.

On HowManyLeft, the 16 cars registered post Q4 of 2019 are most likely to be some of the last of the facelift cars that looked like Strads (but weren't actually Strads) that had the auto box, bigger info screen etc.

There is also the odd anomoly that only Maserati UK would have the precise details on. For example, I know that cars bound for South Africa are all UK cars that are supplied to the SA concessionary via Maserati UK. So would they be UK cars, even if they aren't here in the UK? I suspect similar may be true of other right hand drive markets, perhaps Cyprus, Malta, Barbados, Bahamas, Cayman Isles etc. I would expect that the Japan, India, and Anzac markets are large enough to not need to come through the UK but I don't know for sure.

Makes sense. As a an aside - Japan imports (from new) a significant number of prestige vehicles in left hand drive form - even where they are available in right hand drive form. I anticipate a good proportion of the Maserati in Japan would be LHD (based on my 9 years living there).

Edit: Unscientific picking of an export site from Japan shows only 1/19 Maserati Granturismo they have for sale is RHD

Doubt they’d be UK cars spec wise going to SA as it’s all km over there.

I know for sure that all SA Maseratis are UK cars, the only difference is they count the odometer in km. 99.9% sure, unless it's changes in the past couple of years.

I’d have thought the AC and other bits are different too. They are on Australian cars.

I have replied to Maserati to thank them for my spec and the figures, and have asked the question about South African cars. In fact I have asked for worldwide numbers of the MC Stadale 2 seat and 4 seat by country, you never know, they may share.
