I used to drive to Iran several times a year many moons ago , when even eastern turkey was bandit country from the kurds, and the roads were really crappp from Istanbull east , ruote i used to take was, Ostende through to Germany, Austria , Yugoslavia Bulgaria ,and through Turkey via Ankara and Ezerum to Iran

Now there is no Yugoslavia but the cities we used to go via were Zagreb Belgrade and Sofia chatted to my cousing a few years back that still does this journey and he still uses that same route , he says there no problems now thet the wars are over in that area

just take plenty of dirty mags just incase , we used to have to pay the police off with them in those days , it was still under the iron curtain then , and the speeding currency was parade and penthouse

regards loz

Russians are the funniest though I'm usually over there in a coach, coaches are limited to 62 mph or 100km. (same speed depending if speedo is in km or mph) they start with " we have photo graphic proff you were doing 140 km down so and so road that's a 100 euro fine, ( they like to fine you in euros ) so you say no theres no way I was doing that speed... They take a minute then say sorry translation error 120km so we do you deal 75euros. This goes on for a bit then you aggre on a 25euro fine or such like, you have to give them something or thy will keep u there all day.

You want to try Nigeria, they start as soon as you land and go to be stamped in to the country, then it's every step you take from then on!!!
