"Charity man banned for dangerous driving"

Anyways guys the local paper devoted quite a few column inches to a "Cannonball" run participant who drove his Maserati GT in a less than responsible manner at said event in our county. They even put up a pic of a GT so the local "plebs" would know what to pour their scorn and vitriol upon!! The name Maserati was mentioned 7 times as if it was the marques fault!

Alleging he drove carelsessly/dangerously when overtaking a queue of traffic, forcing one road user to pull onto the hardshoulder.

The Croatian with an American license got a £300 fine and a 12 month ban!!! Hes going back home anyways so what was the point.

See it from their point Frank; they usually only get to report unteathered horses and marches, but yes it does nothing to improve things for you...

The local press stopped reporting on runaway horses?? Do they know how dangerous that can be? What kind of lunatic media would neglect to keep an anxious, nervous public abreast of the last-known whereabouts of stray equine menaces?

Hopefully the serious business of cross-border chicken smuggling is not being neglected from the front page.

No mention of the hens Adam......it used to be the cattle smuggling...........herds moved across a line one week....then back the next....made many a pretty penny for hard up border farmers over 30 odd years

One of my father-in-law's favorite stories is about a chicken coup - which was being floated across the river - breaking free and floating downstream quite some way and at speed before hitting a road bridge, much to the surprise of the border guards. The possibility of a little poetic license does nothing to diminish the visual humour! (for me anyway).

According to me it's Irish rural myth. According to the after dinner stories it has persons named, dates, chicken quantities and breeds... Everything to validate the story as being 100%, incontrovertibly.... possible.

Of course during WWII....lots of stuff was in sort supply......local seamstresses devised semi-insulated knickers of the B Jones variety for butter smuggling.....customs officers weren't allowed access to womens knickers back then......:)
