It says Bassing, at 8:47, says if it had carbon ceramic brakes instead of steal, they could improve on that time.

8:48 is not the lap record buy a country mile guys. 06:11.130 is still the outright record by Stefan Bellof in a 956 Porker.

Pibbow, you misunderstood, the 8:48 is reference to the video timeline where it mentions the drivers name.

Hi matt

Story of my life! LOL

I just watched it again and made the time around 7:44 very quick but still mile off the record. Would not wish to be a passenger at that pace either.

Excellent vid...
very close between the 3 you mention Nick, a second over nearly 13 miles...
but lets not forget that the Ferrari is the old man of this bunch!
Regards,
Enzo.

Brill, the noise is wonderful...Love the quick steering reaction coming out of the bends. The Ring is a scary place but addictive....

Hi matt

I just watched it again and made the time around 7:44 very quick but still mile off the record. Would not wish to be a passenger at that pace either.

The driver was American Le Mans Series racer Marc Basseng and it was the production car lap record in 2008 which has been beaten, I think it is currently held by a Radical.

I think you would be surprised how you wouldn't be frightened if you were being driven by a decent driver at those kinds of speeds. As long as you get into the car knowing and keeping in your mind you are sitting next to a gifted driver (who will probably not even be at 10 tenths with a passenger in the car) you would probably enjoy the experience. You also just need to keep in your mind that he will brake LONG after you think he should have done and turn into the corners MUCH faster than you think is possible!

I have been driven round the Dubai Autodrome by Stefan Mucke in an Aston Martin and I have been driven round Silverstone by my own driver Tom in our G50 and both were enjoyable experiences.

In fact when we do passenger rides days everyone without exception gets out of the car saying it is one of the best experiences of their life!
