Maserati emblem by the petrol filler cap (C panel?)

I've seen the emblem on 3200 GT's and some 4200's, but not all, is it an "add on", or was it part of the 4200 facelift?

Cann't remember if it was on the facelift, it was on the GS for sure.

it may be part of the facelift.....but i bought a 3200gt in march, and saw another with them on and liked it so managed to get the dealer to put a pair on for me....looks great.

Pretty certain this exact question was asked very recently. IIRC, the conclusion was it was an option or a cheap aftermarket add on. I think they're £7 each or something.

As far as I can tell from write-ups and from seeing loads of cars whilst looking to buy, they were installed on the 4200 facelift, but not on earlier models, correct me if I'm wrong?
If you look at the car on the Maserati site, you can just see them.

WIll check my brochure later...perhaps they did put them on the last ones then....Don't recall them being on the GS........You've got me thinkning I'm wrong now. The main reason I say this is that back in 2007 I was at Meridien and with my 3200 and got talking to them....They liked the shields on my car and said its a shame Maserati never fitted them at the factory on the GS and 4200.....

Could be they option up cars for the photos as there is a 4200 in the brochure with the emblem. In fact they have one photo which is just that part of the car highlighting the emblem

I'm 99% sure that they were on GS LE's from the factory. You may be right in that they were added at the dealership, but I'd be surprised. They were an option, and as they're a simple option to fit, they could have been dealer fitted, but I'd have thought the factory would do them.

Happy to be corrected if anyone knows for certain.

Most of the bog std stick on items are generally done at PDI level along with the window etching

Yes I noticed that too. Kind of weird. I too think they must have been standard on the GS LE as thats one of things I was told to look for to identify the car as an LE rather than an optioned up GS. Anyway I'm happy as mine is an LE so I have the little treasures.

I'm still not sure on the LE bit...DL had a white one there brand new back in 2007 and that didn't have the badges on as I commented on it and said it needed them

I have 4 brochures ranging from 2004 to 2007......Checked them all...No badges on the GS, GS LE or early 4200.....Every face lift car had the badges on in every brochure....
