Maserati 21!

I “think”, tonight, at auction, I bought my 21st Maserati tonight - a QP IV V8.
But the storms caused electrical problems at the end of the sale, so it’s not yet confirmed. The auction ended early as a consequence. But only after the QP lot I had the winning bid on, so hopefully it’ll still stand. Time will tell.

The QP IV has long been one of my favourite car designs, and this will be my fourth. The best one being the blue car I used at my wedding, some 20 years ago, which I refused to move from in front of the red carpet at Claridges when Spanish King Juan Carlos arrived in his S Class Merc. Who has the temerity to request a Maserati be moved for a Merc?!!! (P.S. I’ve nothing against the Spanish royal family. But it’s a bit cheeky when the guests chauffeurs start trying to boss who parks where!)

Let’s hope your winning bid gets confirmed.

By the way…….. who exactly were you chauffeuring to Claridges ? ;)

Come on Ewan, you can't just leave it there - we need some nice pictograms to drool over!

Congratulations too ;)

Yep - it’s been confirmed. I am now the owner of that green car from Brightwells.

I’ve not seen it yet, but it’s clear that the previous long-term owner (a retired Brigadier) looked after it well, having it serviced every year and checked over again before each of his summer European jaunts.

I‘ll collect it next week, and post some pics once it’s been to my detailer.

Great news Ewan... First one of these I saw was at Boys and Toys at an airfield near you back in 2009.

Red one starting a 10 minute warm up on a retail park in the late nineties. Stunning.

Might have been me! Was it at Compton Abbas?
This is my second green QP IV. The other two were blue.
The first was a new V8 EVO auto, in blue, from Maranello at Egham. (Well, I say new, but it was their demo car.)
The second was a very dark green (that looked almost black) V8 EVO manual. Bought from a garage in Sussex. (I had actually bought a Ghibli Cup from them a few weeks earlier. But when researching its past I discovered it had been crashed, so took it back and swapped it for the QP.)
The third was another V8 EVO auto in blue, bought from Dicky Grace. And a jolly lovely one that was. Shouldn’t have sold it, and when offered it back a couple of years later, should have re-bought it but didn’t.
So, now we move on to number four. A green Ottocylindri (so a V8, but pre-EVO) auto. I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve seen it, but my hopes are high.

What else is it for?
Well, the car has been very little used over the years, particularly over the last 5 years has done less than 1000miles. The car got stranded due a faulty clutch bearing. Other obvious issues were an incorrect exhaust and worn out suspension that shows when the car is nearly full. Then some minor cosmetic issues s.a. gaps of bumpers.

Following a clutch bearing replacement, a full service and installation of new "Ansa" exhaust system I'm in shakedown mode. Next big job will be fitting a set of new absorbers from @A.S. Motorsport... its getting there..
