That depends on what’s in the back. Contraband? Dead bodies? A soiled mattress? All will virtually guarantee a reprieve.

The police found one of our works Maestro vans that had been nicked 6 months previously in a scrap yard they’d raided and called us to have a look. They’d taken the engine, wheels, seats out, presumably to sell on and left the £20,000 worth of survey gear sitting in the back!

As a policeman sadly observed to me once, we’re not really dealing with the brightest people...

Colour kills it stone dead. See what I did there?

The colour seems quite divisive doesn’t it.... I have yet to see it in real life, but think it looks great in the pictures. Others seem to see it as dirty white, or like porridge!

Colour always is, and most go for safe colours, even on the loudest sports cars. I love it, and it was the colour picked for the resin Stradale 1:18 model I have in my garage. I think the red calipers and red finishing inside really works, and then the grey Alcantara headlining picks up the outside colour theme to provide a nice contrast to the black leather interior. If I had been looking for a Stradale I would have bought this one ever one in any other colour. I just think it’s very unique and special.

It's like primer grey ie they haven't finished painting it. Woeful and really doesn't flatter the car at all.

Funny about colour, when I was hunting for a QP5 I wanted a red one or a dark blue one, saw a red one, didn't like the colour, too plummy, was hoping for something like the deeper Alfa red, blue was ok but didn't like car, felt a bit 'off'...

On off change I went to see an icy blue one (Argentine Blue) expecting to hate it, didn't like it in pics, but loved it when I saw it....

I think you are right, what looks **** in pictures can look much better in real life so I will reserve judgement as it was a long time ago I saw one and didn't appreciate the triple layer paint in the sun. The Bianco Alpi on the Ghibli is stunning.

It’s nothing like grey primer in the flesh.......or photos, but you really do need to go and see it to decide if you like it or not.

Not like you to speak your mind! You’re wrong though, it’s a great colour, fantastic in the flesh.

It's a great colour in the flesh....think it's a three layer pearl effect. It would be the colour I would have on a Centennial.

I’m on Phils side. Looks better in the pics than in the flesh to me. No one is wrong or right as it’s all in the eye bla bla . :D

Jon, I agree with others that best guess answers are 1 = 70, 2 = 50 and 3 = 30. But with answer 2 that could be retail value rather than what you might get for it.

If it's your dream car and a palatable portion of your income then you should have it. If the numbers concern you then don't buy the car. There are plenty of dream machines for sale at this price point and many will depreciate far less than the Maserati (such as an Aston or Ferrari). The car you are looking at might be rare but possibly not as rare as a buyer for it in 2 years time.

We are all different. I've only ever spent what seemed to me a shed load of money on a car but I was comfortable I was buying at the bottom of the curve and could get my money back after a couple of summer's motoring, which I did. I've even held off buying a GTS because I think the depreciation is currently too heavy compared to other marques but most buy a Maserati with their heart rather than a sensible head.

In conclusion, if you didn't pay the dealer a visit this afternoon I don't think you want the car enough.

Wise words. All about how you value enjoyment today v the bigger picture of tomorrow.

Enjoyment and financial rationality are often opposing forces.

Go with what feels right for you. If the pleasure it will give you sits comfortably with the monetary aspect, then go for it. If not, you've lost nothing. There will be others.

I'm saying this as somebody who's on the knife-edge of head v heart in my car buying, but fortunate to own a few (not necessarily wise, but it adds variety).
