Just had an email from my local main dealer. That makes it cheaper than my local independant.

As an owner of a Maserati 4200 Coupe GT, you qualify as a Trofeo club member. Our exclusive Trofeo club members benefit from discounted pricing on servicing, a free vehicle health check, a personal technical video of your car and a free 4-wheel alignment check at Lancaster Maserati Colchester.

Below is an example of a typical discounted service on a Maserati 4200 Coupe GT:

WAS FROM
£960

NOW STARTING FROM
£799

This is for a basic service - not major, correct?

Still a bit hefty compared to the specialists who cost circa £1k for a major

This is similar to Porsche for their 'modern classics' models (mainly 996 and 997).
The fixed prices for these models means it isnt worth taking it out of main dealer history with many indys under-cutting by £50 - £100 only when VAT is considered and some even being dearer than Porsche Main Dealers. I am only talking servicing costs with Porsche. The competitive prices is by discounting labour rates but still fitting genuine Porsche parts.

Please explain your comment, the price has come down to 799 pounds including VAT. I have no idea what point you are making.

That is a sweeping statement. My Main Dealer full service history Porsche Turbo is immaculately maintained and at a very good price versus independents - for servicing I might add. Non service items (of which I have had very few) are priced by book time not a fixed price. The car has genuine Porsche parts warranty for two years (unlike after-market or OEM parts that carry only 1 year warranty). And its serviced by a 'heritage' technician who has been trained on the older models.

Maserati market is very different and I only use an indy for different reasons. One of them being that it is unlikely that our local main dealer has any technician who has worked on a Gransport in the last one year. My Porsche dealer has a trained technician for the older models.

My main dealer -Charles Hurst Belfast - quoted me today £590 (inc vat) for 56k service. I had been thinking of heading to Autoshield but that price is very competitive and 56k service is a light one.

It is good to read that some Main Dealers are at last waking up to the fact that caring for 'old models' at a reasonable price can make business sence.

We have seen a number of indis closing down so it would be good to have other choices at sensible prices.

If it’s a Ferrari/Maserati main dealer, it’s because the free 7 year warranty has fixed prices for all jobs, and they don’t make the profits as before. So now they are trying to get business full stop. And now remember there is more than just new cars to be cared for.

Had my GS serviced this year by Lancaster in Colchester. Cost £775 for minor + brake fluid. Was happy enough with the service, especially as they came all the way out to Norwich to collect and return the car at no cost.
