Mine was around the £700 if I remember rightly. I budgeted for an average of 16mpg, but got an overall figure of 25mpg, so was quids in! :) ( 3200.)

I averaged about 22 mpg - which I think is pretty good - never saw 25! The other cost to consider are the tolls in France and Italy if you take the Autroutes (adding these up would be frightening - so I didn't!) and the Mount Blanc Tunnel is €46 one way (or about that). For peace of mind I did take out AA Europe coverage .. just in case ! It is not therefore a cheap holiday, but it beats flying to one place hands down in my mind.

£700 is not bad at all. From the UK through to the south of Italy and back? Maybe the turbos in the 3200 make it a bit more economical than the juicy 4.2 in the GS!

You really cannot use the word "turbo" and "economical" on the same sentence :)

Fuel in France is good value at the moment, with the exchange rate as it is it works out £1.00 per ltr.

Diesel is even better due to over supply and lack of demand...price may fall even more due to the price of crude falling again.

That's the one - Obviously its all ways been there - the interactive web site is ok!

Yowsers, Just a quick look at lunchtime - Its a 316 mile trip from home to the start in Inverness. I need to modify the return / or start as I want to go via Carlisle and Ayr however they can be dropped if required.

Best start planning -SWMBO can change her weeks off so once the rug rats are both packed off to Uni we are off!!
