That's terrible.

Took me 3 1/2 hrs to get from Heathrow to home last week (under 80 miles)...overturned car on M25.
Slightly less today.

2 pedestrians were killed, it doesn't say how, i reckon that the lorry went onto the hard shoulder or worst, it was a suicide.

It is just shocking...
says there is an empty car parked on the hard shoulder...maybe they broke down/run out of fuel or something...

yeah, i reckon the lorry driver fell asleep at the wheel, the driver was 60, i am not against older people but that is quite a fair age to be travelling a large amount of miles a day.

Stats show the worst, most dangerous, involved in the worst accidents, most injuries/deaths are caused by?

The under 30s..........................

because this type of accedent is not that uncommon, the advise is to get out of the car and wait on the other side of the crash barrier for assistance.
I have had 2 occasions when I was almost hit by a lorry while stopped on the hard shoulder.
my cousin was killed when he was waiting in his broken down car, a loory ploughed into the back of him at speed.
walking along the side of the motorway is absolute madness.

Its drivers of HGV not paying attention to the roads and i would have no doubt that this monkey drove onto the hard shoulder and up onto the embankment..Gransportfan said"2 pedestrians were killed, it doesn't say how, i reckon that the lorry went onto the hard shoulder or worst, it was a suicide". as for a suicide..2 men in a double suicide because there car broke down does not make a lot of sense to me Adam,an if the driver was arested for driving without due care... then he meandered off the carriageway or fell asleep.

Arresting him doesn't necessarily mean much.
I was told they always arrest the driver involved in a fatal unless there is immediate compelling evidence they were not to blame.

Consider this
The United States Transportation Department said this past Wednesday that traffic deaths have fallen by 9.7 percent from 2009 to just 33,808
Over THIRTY THREE THOUSAND - That is a serious number

In the UK in 2008 there were 2,538 killed on the road, including 158 on motorways.
Apparently this is the lowest number since 1926

ok, ok I'll get my anorak
