Probably done the rounds before, but this is one of my favourite Stradale videos. It's great to see the driver getting into it in the first part, and the car sounds superb. Later on it shows 314km/h on the clock (no idea what real GPS speed would be).

That looks fast...even though it claims 3 seconds faster than a GTS, it looks much quicker than I imagine my car could manage.

It looks like understeer city, the car doesn't turn in...It's a shame these latest Maser's are so heavy!

Most cars are setup to understeer though as the great unwashed can cope with understeer better than oversteer. Just steer it on the throttle if you detect any hint of understeer.

doesn't look like just understeer to me. he's pretty constantly alternating under and over from the looks of it. also, it's pretty clear how slow the steering ratio is. I keep meaning to start a post about remedies for that...

Would be a different car with 200-300kg less to haul around.
I think that goes for the standard car very much too.

I reckon you could save 30kg on the battery. And a fair chunk on the front seats. The Stradale bonnet is meant to be a lot lighter. 100kg of would be pretty easy I reckon, but beyond that though I think you're into relatively small amounts everywhere and it gets expensive doing that sort of thing retrospectively.

I love my Auto GranTurismo and I think they will always be a car to keep, afterall the QP5 and GR were made by Ferrari then. But when I look at the progress Alfa have made with the QV, either Maserati are going to have to really up their game to get the ligthness and responsiveness that Alfa have in the QV or the brand will be forever making luxo-barges.

Check out this short video, skip to 1:30 and see the way this thing goes round the track... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RFBx8lMLIE

He certainly uses all of the track and lots of run out on some of the faster corners. Surprises me it is 3 seconds quicker round there than the S.

It may be over/under steering and heavy, but that lap time is impressive in comparison to other fast cars. It's number 137 on this list. Many reviews have said the Stradale manages to hide its size and weight on a race track. It feels quite large and heavy as I roll it back into its spot in my garage..

faster than a 991 Carrera, a new M3 etc.

It's not a track car so I think it does quite well considering. After all, Stradale means Road. Given the change in suspension settings, gearbox settings, a little bit less weight and Race mode, I'm not surprised that it's 3sec faster. You can see from the Trofeo cars that you can make a real belter from these cars if you want to.

Literally, yes. But Italian manufacturers use it to indicate a road version of a racing car... like the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. I guess Maserati would say the Stradale is based on the Trofeo GranTurismo MC race car.

If you dumped the standard seats in favour of a pair of nice Sparco's..that's nearly 75 kilos off the dry weight!

Then plastic boot and bonnet lids...the difference be fairly impressive!

I will not consider myself as a racing driver, but the guy driving the Stradale simply does not follow some basic steering rules: every corner has an apex, which the driver should aim to. With "aim to" it's clear that the hands shall give the steering wheel very clear messages of what the car has to do. The man driving on the video is not so sure in every corner he takes, so this causes a kind of instability to the car, and possibly useless tyre noise and understeer.
If his steering was clearer, he would have made a lot better driving, not even needing to come that far from the curbs.

No he's definitely using the apex's for the faster corners and has the entries and exits pretty much spot on, he is using throttle oversteer too to bring the front of the car round and as I said above he really uses the rumble strips and kerbs to his advantage running wide on the tighter bends. It's a quick and aggressive lap which in a car which has a heavy engine up front is what you need as the tendency is towards understeer and it is about counteracting it with the right weight changes.
